He's a vanity-cap, claims a cap far lower then it actually is. Example claims 5 but is double digits. Worst kind of partner you can have in team bet.

Laine doesn't seem to like hockey very much. He has as much as natural talent as any winger in the NHL. The huge frame, the cannon shot. He's also flashed coast-to-coast ability carrying the puck as well. However, he's only concerned about doing what is fun and easy for him- shooting bombs off one-timers.

In another universe, Laine is the league's best power forward. he shaves his head and he's as intimidating as all get out. he also doesn't play golf and video games all the time. He stays in great shape so he can actually play both ways.

A las, he hates hockey.

I don't believe he hates it but he doesn't love the idea of changing who he is in order to get better and help his team win games. He's going to need a metamorphosis. It's not unheard of (Yzerman, Hull, Modano, etc.).

The translation is bad, the guy has never really been a very excitable person about hockey in general, in Wpg he was very "meh" when interviewed.

He likes to score goals...its what he enjoys. He played goalie until he was 13, so the game may be different to him then someone who grew up as a player since they were 5.

The only concern I have if the translation is correct is being 23 and not wanting anything to do with a game a couple months AFTER his year was done. In his situation I'd of hoped he had a chip on his shoulder to work his tail off and prove Winnipeg, Torts and all the naysayers wrong. He seems to have simply gone the other route and not want to deal with training/skating/hockey right now.

Next year won't be any easier, Columbus is going to be an AHL team and Laine. Could be ugly.

yep Laine really showed everyone last season his steely resolve. no cry baby here just grim determination, and willingness to hustle and drive the play.
