The "Crosby has a skate issue" thing is kind of stupid when you consider they could have called a timeout to get him out there.
Whoever the commentators were in the Leafs feed were pointing out Crosby had been sitting on top of the boards waiting for a change for the better part of a minute before they scored.

Clearly it didn't take that long to fix, someone couldn't have pulled a lost contact lens or something to stall the faceoff 30 seconds?
Sounds like bullshit to me. I went back and checked and Sid is sitting right in front of Sullivan at the start of OT, not getting his skate worked on:

They also had puck possession 15 seconds into OT where he could have got on the ice if an equipment issue really kept him off.
The leafs broacast pointed out Crosby had been sitting on top of the boards clearly itching to get on right around the rush up ice after the Pens lost possession in the Leafs zone, then they never lost possession before scoring and that was that.

Frankly I'm delighted they did me the birthday solid of not completely shitting the bed the game before and after, as has been tradition.

No, they couldn't. You can't call a timeout to start overtime. And there wasn't a stoppage in OT before the goal.

Crosby has old school skates. They take the entire skate off to work on it. He's had multiple other occasions when he's stayed on the bench without a skate, including at least once when he was mic'd up and Sullivan called his line and Sid responded, "I don't have a skate."

Sid was probably ready shortly after that, but not to start.

Yeah, starting Eller there and watching him the whole OT sucked. But that said, TOR vs PIT 3 on 3 is a mismatch anyway. No matter what, it´s still a big advantage to TOR. Even in the shootout it would be the same. Just forget about that, take the one point here and beat Detroit next.

If Crosby can't go, Malkin and Bunting should go. Zero reason to start Eller/DOC just because Crosby could not go. That's just excuses.

the Canadian broadcast was blown away by Sullivan starting Lars Eller.

Mike Sullivan in any market that actually gave a shit about hockey would be gone 3-4 years ago.

The Red Sox will be in Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks.

Maybe someone can find FSG and ask them if they are actually paying attention to the hockey team they also own.

Was at the game. Man is it an experience seeing Sid play. He goes into a scrum with 3 players and you already know he's coming out with the puck. He is such a fiend along the boards. Watching EKs skating is absolutely mesmerizing as well. I nearly jumped to the ceiling when DOC scored lol

No shock that defensive savant JFC was out there with 1 minute left. I was telling my friend that I just hope they tie it because the OT is an immediate loss.

I’m usually the last guy to ever bitch about Refs but it’s a f***ing miracle we got 1 point out of that game with how atrocious the Refs were and just hot bad the power play is.
