And what's the plan for next year? Hope every player and the system progresses and no regressions anywhere?
The plan next season is what this season should have been. Play more of the youngsters. Don't ride washed up vets. Next season begins with firing Lalonde. Bring him back and you're already hurting the future. He's not it.

Just can't see them moving on from Lalonde, right or wrong to them they are probably gonna see this as a successful season.

And that's a loser mentality. At some point, you need to take a major step forward. The end of Year 5 is more than enough time to be back in the playoffs, regardless of what Yerman inherited. Otherwise, what was the point of hiring him?
He said we were years away. Curious as to what years meant to some people. Tough close to the season but every year the team improves. Our high end center prospects still not even stepped onto team yet.

Yeah, I’ll be very surprised if he’s fired.
And that's a major indictment on Yzerman.

He's the ultimate competitor and losing is abhorrent to him. He should consider it a personal insult to have a head coach that routinely goes "well we weren't supposed to be here, our division is so good so we might not be back in a playoff race next year, etc"

Yzerman hired Lalonde though. Admitting mistakes is difficult. Pride gets involved.

When are you going to start demanding more from this team? In no way should missing the playoffs at the end of Year 5 of a rebuild be deemed acceptable.

I'm not saying I agree with it, saying that the "Yzerplan" wasn't to make the playoffs this year if you listen to what Lalonde and Yzerman say.

Honestly, it’s pretty depressing that we’re playing Czarnik and ZAR in a season we’re not going to make the playoffs. Seems like a total waste of time, and waste of a season.
