Despite the shot count I think the Oilers did a good job keeping them to the outside and the Kings resorted to throwing random pucks at the net hoping for a lucky bounce.
Exactly this.

Look back at numerous LA goals from the past two years.. they would just throw pucks from the point and get the most absurd deflections perfectly into the net.

Nice to see that luck has dried up. Hopefully that holds up.

Are you 7? Skinner fairly received criticism for his poor play, and now is getting credit. Just leave it at that. Skinner was excellent.
Questionable “fairness”. When some of the goals that were squarely on our Defence was blamed on Skinner. Happened all year long. Like cross crease one timers given up going into gaping nets aren’t on Skinner. Breakaways shouldn’t be on skinner but you could hope for a save there every 2nd time.

Here’s a little trick though, when a goal goes in ask yourself if you could possibility see a coach or a goalie (any goalie) saying they’d like to have that one back. If the answer is no. Reassess and watch that goal again.

Skinner sure came to play!

And I think we really need to give props to Vinny. Last year he got walked by whoever that was in the playoffs and looked completely out of place. A year later he is a literal anchor of our PK and can be trusted 100% in our zone. I can’t think of a Oiker who had his career arc. Just an awesome story.
Vinny is money. I feel pretty damn safe with him and Kulak on the ice together. Desharnais worked hard on his footwork this summer and they need to get this guy signed on a nice affordable long-term deal.

To be honest it looked like the Oilers had zero interest in forechdcking tonight it was a full protect the house effort, but yes full marks to LA as they had no bad turnovers.
This game reminded me of 1984 when the Oilers won 1-0 on the road against the Islanders.

Obviously its not the Stanley Cup final but it says something about the maturity level. You have to hold on and stay focused in these very tight games.

3-1 SERIES LEAD AND STUART SKINNER WITH THE BEST GAME OF HIS CAREER.

He was amazing tonight and even defensively we played decent.

Oilers were opportunistic and I am so happy that Skinner made up for his bad game.

Game 5 will be EPIC
I would disagree on “decent” defensively. They were excellent. Everything was to the outside, they blocked out anything coming towards the middle. This is how Vegas won the cup last year.

Yes, very uncharacteristic game. Almost the exact opposite of the last year. They looked like New Jersey circa 2003.

I was entertained differently than usual yes. Not sure if that's what it was though yet lol
An untraditional game from the Oilers unless one compares it to critical SC playoff 1-0 wins like the 1-0 Win in 84 in Long Island and the 1-0 1990 Oilers W in Boston.

Its part of our hockey heritage even though its been awhile. I think this could be the last Oilers 1-0 playoff W since 1990. That was Petr Klima in triple OT.

For those old enough to remember that.

This is a nice reward for the boys to get intrinsic reinforcement on finding a different way to W. Gives opponents yet more aspects to worry about.

I mean imagine. Kings shutdown everybody they'd want to, shut it down EV, they still lose.
