I hate Vegas. I'm going to the draft. Here's why.

1. This is the last draft in person. The next drafts are going to be NFL style, everything remote. This is the last chance for a while.

2. We may never pick 1OA again.

3. While Vegas sucks, the sphere is a grotesque spectacle that I would like to experience. Because of 1/2 this seems like a once in a lifetime experience that's worth being in person for.

4. We have two picks in the first round. We get the amazing fireworks at the beginning and then we get a huge surprise halfway through.

And then a late 1st for when we trade Ferraro… 😬

I live in LA and would totally go but am leaving on a trip 2 days later so, alas…

There's always going to be a risk. Without it, there's no reward.
I just want to know if the risk is higher as he is a teenager who may not have stopped growing.

What is the reward? 3 more wins? Maybe 5 more wins? Sharks aren't going on a Cup run which would justify it.

Excellent arguments. Mayhaps I will come.

Have any events at the Sphere been televised yet? I have a feeling it's going to look like shit on TV.
I've only seen concert footage and it looked amazing.

But something like the draft, not sure. Depends how they use the screen. The stage is tiny in comparison to the scale of the venue, so i imagine they use the screen like a giant desktop monitor with multiple windows open.

Edit: I doubt anyone will watch this whole vid will at least give you a sense of what pro-shot vids in the Sphere can look like:

...I'm afraid of asking what these are.
Seat is wired to give physical sensations in reaction to whatever has been programmed. A jolt. A shock. A wave. (Based on previous stuff I experienced at imax/etc.) Probably not too intense.

WRT dome imagery.... I'm guessing blow up/magnification of what's happening on stage, stats and clips of player drafted. And who knows what else.

Ah...haptic seats. How would that even work for a sporting event?

Sphere also has directional sound, meaning that they can beam specific audio to specific seats. I wonder if each draftee will have the sound directed at their seat in their native language

Hi guys,
there's no better time to change your mind from the status longtime reader to be active and create an own account to conversate with you about the best and nicest franchise and fans!
At first: YES WE DID IT!!!! #1OA

To introduce myself: As mentioned above i'm a longtime reader here and i am spending so much time to read about the games, players your opinions etc.
I am from germany so i'm sorry i'm no native speaker, so i wish you much fun with my posts

With my leaguepass i watch every game, most of them live. That means i need a lot of coffee after the game to survive the following day o_O

I was also able to be at a game at the tank, it was in 2018 in the PO against the f..kin Vee gee kays. It was an OT loss but the whole experience at the tank with you guys was just AMAZING!!!
I've also been in Berlin and after that in Prague to both games. It was also very exciting to watch Tomas in his hometown. But you can't compare this with the tank. The tank is just unique!

I'm very happy and can't wait for the start of the new season and new era with Will the secondary an Mack the 'special one'!

That's it for now and my first post...
I'd like to be part of you and the best fans, and franchise of the US!

Bedard had a broken jaw. It was a set back for him.

Are youths more likely to get a broken bone if they are still growing? If so, I would prefer another year. Also would a broken bone hinder future growth? Say one leg shorter than another? Or a difference in muscle mass? Basically, if the chance of injury is higher due to age or body development, it would be better for him to wait a year.

Torrey Mitchell always had permanent problems after his leg injury, and he was already an adult. It would be wise to reduce risk of unnecessary injury because Sharks will still be playing for a lotto pick next year.
My bad, man. I left off the :sarcasm: on my previous post about him becoming The Incredible Hulkibrini.

Regarding bone density versus age, here's a chart I found:
1715347135438.png

By eyeball it looks like about 22 or 23 is about as good as it's going to get according to that chart. You wanna just wait until then? or the other side of 20? That's two or three years for Macklin, 5 if you wait for maximum bone density, even tho it looks like that next pip is slightly higher, the one nearly to 40.

I feel like another year in NCAA won't help Hulkibrini's development as an NHLer at all. He won the Hobey Baker at 17, there's nothing left to prove there. Get him working with the Sharks' trainers and staff during the off-season. Get him working with Jumbo and Marleau ASAP.

I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Vegas for the first 36 hours... After that I hate myself, remember I'm too old for this and swear that I'll never come back to Vegas ever

But I will definitely be there if it means we do a meetup at a Cosmo wraparound balcony and do a group photo recreating the EK9 tweet

Not right away no, but his third and fourth years would be nice to have freed up when we're ready to compete again.
If Cooch is injured, it basically is freed up. If he's not, we don't have anyone to worry about paying in the three years he has left.

Couture's contract, as well as the Karlsson retention and Jones buyout penalty, expire at the same time as Celebrini's ELC will (also Smith if he doesn't spent another year in college).

That's some $13 million in cap we will have to play with just in expiring cap that summer (including their ELCs). We'll also be done with the Vlasic contract unless we buy him out.

TBH I'm not loving all of the Adam Jiříček mocking to us at 14. Defenders alone I'm not sure I'd take him over Emery, Hutson, Mews, Elick, Wallenius. Just too many question marks with his skating and ability to defend.

On the flip side, Carter Yakemchuk feels too good to be true. I don't understand how this guy is constantly mocked outside of the top 10. He's my third favorite defender in the class after Levshunov and Buium. He can try and stickhandle in places where he shouldn't, but I don't fault him for him pushing the boundaries of his creativity. He has a heavy shot from the blueline, some of the best hands in the class, very high end anticipation on both offense and defense, he's an old school physical bully and he has a powerful stride when he gets going.

The most complete defender in this class and he would be the dream pick at 14 for me.

I feel like it’s just lazy. “Sharks need D so they reach” is a very lazy take. We need RW just as much, so it seems crazy to see people pass on Sennecke or MBN for the Sharks at 14 when they’d be excellent picks for us just to take a defenseman who had a bad first half and then had a major knee injury.

I've still never been to Vegas. Fear and loathing mostly. I fear and loathe the desert. I'm not a gambler. I couldn't give a shit about the shows... etc etc

But, goddammit now I want to go be in the money phone pic... (pretty sure that's the pic/tweet you're referencing) although I think it'd be tough to top this parody:

While I really want a defenseman at 14, I’m starting to realize that ultimately BPA is always the best bet, particularly now that we have our 1C. We can always trade a forward prospect for a good defenseman, better to take the best player (who can become the best trade chip if necessary) then to reach for a positional need and end up with a guy who can’t cut it.
