He had a good year but he doesn't have the physical tools to be incredible unless his very good technical tools become elite which is hard to do.
He is a very technically sound goalie so he doesn't flop around like other goalies that are more "athletic"/out of position like and Askarov. He reminds me a lot of Jeremy Swayman and if he gets to that level it would be fantastic. He is still probably do another season in the AHL and then should be ready at 22 to see what he can do at the NHL level.

He plays like a smaller Swayman and size is incredibly important when you're a technically sound goalie.

Commesso is 6'2 and Swagman is 6'2 and I bet will be the same weight in 3 years or so. I believe that I read they train together as well so that would probably help in training as well as they are similar in styles.

Swayman plays big Comesso plays small. Excuse the phrasing but Comesso's holes are much tighter but he takes up less net. It's just tough for me to get excited about a guy that reminds me of Cam Talbot. Yes I know Talbot is bigger.

An old article that fits the discussion.

And then Commesso spent much of the summer working out in Boston with a group of NHL players, including Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, who became a day-to-day mentor.
“The big thing I took away from both of them is their compete [level] and athleticism,” Commesso said. “Getting to practice with Jeremy all summer and seeing how much he competes, it really helped me translate it into practice, and hopefully it’ll translate into games this year. With both of them, I try to be like a sponge and soak in all the information I can that would make me better.”
