Asking for a friend:

What are your thoughts on Chatfield?
Is he capable of playing as a Top 4 D?
Will the Canes be pushing to bring him back this off-season?

I somewhat doubt he makes it to free agency. I think the Canes sign him somewhere around $2.5M or so by 3 or 4yrs. He likely gets $3M+ on the open market.

I don’t think he’s a top 4D on his own, but with a strong partner, he can handle 2nd pair duty.

Not sure I would want him as a full duty #4, but he's fast, makes up for broken plays with his speed. He's been rock solid with Orlov.
