Garand not getting much help this game. That 2nd goal Robertson got walked on a long shift.

Going to need a push in the 3rd to have a shot in the series.

Little puck luck for Hershey on the 3rd goal but this is painful to watch.
Nothing going on for Hartford.
3-0 Hershey

Hershey is always a club with veteran-heavy rosters, but to their credit they usually do a good job brining in the right veteran players. And a quick peek at their roster this season also shows they've received big contributions from guys like Ethen Frank, who is 26 but in just his second professional season, and Clay Stevenson in goal who is 25 and also in his second professional season. They just do a good job all around.

Wednesday could be the last game for the Pack. I wonder if Roobroeck plays. He'll only get 1 practice in with them, if that, before the game.

As long as Drury is around, it feels like an inevitability that some combination of Greg Moore, Ryan Bourque, and Matt Gilroy will end up in Hartford.

Karl Henriksson, currently injured, may or may not be qualified by the Rangers for next year but in two seasons he doesn't give much of an indication of being an NHL player. It looks like the Rangers missed on this 2019 low second round pick.

Corey Pronman had an interesting comment on the 2019 Swedish U18 team in an article reviewing the 2019 draft. Sweden won the U18 championship that season when it got hot during the championship round. Ten players from that team were drafted including Henriksson. One, Lucas Raymond, is a star. A second, Simon Holdstrom, an Islanders first round pick, seems to be a middle six player at best. But the eight other players up to this point have been disappointments.

There were 4 other first round picks from the U 18 team. Alexander Holtz was a #7 pick in the 2020 draft. He has been unable to secure a constant role for NJ and his name constantly comes up in trade talk involving NJ. But at least he is playing in the NHL. Philip Broberg, Edmonton's # 8 pick in the 2019 draft, spent most of this year in the AHL and it is unclear if he has a future in Edmonton. Victor Soderstrom, Phoenix's #11 pick in the 2019 draft, spent most of the year in the AHL and has not broken through with Phoenix/Utah. Tobias Bjornfot, LA's #22 pick, has moved this year from LA to Vegas and on to Florida.

There were four other players picked in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. In addition to Henriksson, there was Albert Johansson, Detroit's #60 pick, Albin Grewe, Detroit's #66 pick, and Hugo Alnefelt, Tampa's #71 pick. These four have played only 1 NHL game (Alnefolt back in 2021) with Grewe still playing in Sweden.

Pronman concluded that maybe the success of the 2018 Swedish team "artificially bumped up the perceived talent level of their players." The Rangers miss on Henriksson is not the only miss from players on that team.

This from Alex Thomas today:

"Expecting Dylan Garand to start in goal. Also expecting a shuffle of the forward group tonight."

Having scored only 3 goals and had 38 shots in two games it better be a big shuffle. Riley Nash being out is big loss for the Pack given the lack of center depth on the team.

I watched the first and most of the second period. Garand stopped what he could. Tough night for Mancini. Two bad reads leading to 2 grade A chances with one resulting in a goal. Mancini playing with a face guard, so perhaps he is hurt. The second goal is Broulliard failing to tie up his man in front leading to a tip in. Chmelar Roebroeck Vaisenan was best line with Chmelar the best player. But too little offense is the story of this series. Failed to generate much zone time.

After Robertson took a first period penalty the Bears color commentator says Robertson is -6 has taken too many penalties and is hurting the team. Ouch.

I think Robertson's time with the organization is done. He's either not going to be tendered or traded in the offseason in a lateral move.

He wasn't drafted by the current regime either.
