Merry Christmas everyone!

It's been a pretty crazy holiday season up here in Ontario. A massive winter storm over the past couple days, resulted in a large section of highway 401 being shut down, the main provincial highway that runs between the Toronto/Ottawa regions and east to Montreal. Some areas have lost 9-11 service and are dealing with massive pile-ups. Cops in 4x4s and on snowmobiles were having to rescue stranded motorists. A national passenger train line was shut down after a tree fell on a train, resulting in passengers being stranded for 20 hours, some choosing to bail on foot.

I know that sounds like a normal Canadian winter but I swear it's something that only happens a couple/few times per lifetime. This particular storm started as rain, temperatures dropped below freezing and then came an absurd amount of snow and high winds. The worst possible combination for driving conditions.

Looks like the lake effect really made the folks along the coast of the Great Lakes get hammered the worst. A little further north here, we didn't get it quite as bad. Very grateful to live so close to family that holiday plans can proceed, definitely not the case for tens of thousands.
Good to hear you’re doing ok. I flew into YOW last Thursday evening and my goodness we were rocking and rolling from Wisconsin all the way to Ottawa. The captain slowed down because it was so bumpy. And then the landing was absolutely terrifying as well. Some of the worst turbulence I’ve ever experienced 😂. At least the area is in for some warmer temps later this week.
