What you have to love about the guy is that he's basically fearless out there. He deposits Kane headlong into the players bench; cross-checks McDavid and is probably happy to pay five grand in fines; and he's a menace in his own zone.

But beyond that, when was the last time a Canuck d-men doled out the punishment and then chirped the opposing bench on the way by? He can get a way with it, because nobody is going to challenge him.

As we can see from these playoffs so far, a menacing presence like that is worth his weight in gold.

Keep this guy, I posted a lot - 7 years - 7 mil with no clause the last 2 years. Very large signing bonuses the first 4 years, 10+mil.

He is making himself such a big reputation in the playoffs he will be expensive but worth every penny in the real season.

The thing with Zadorov which isn't the case for Joshua or Lindholm, is that is we re-sign him he has the potential to really play about his contract and be a real cap surplus for us. To put it another way, you could see Zadorov putting it all together like he has this playoffs and turn into, effectively, a top 3 two-way defensemen that is mean and physical, and for the $5 million per year he would be getting, or whatever, that would be an incredible. And his floor is probably the player he was in the regular season, and that's not the end of the world.

With Joshua and Lindholm, I think there is less upside.

As of gold prices May 14 2024

250 pounds of gold is 8.5 million USD

Why did Calgary give this guy away for nothing?

He wasn't playing anywhere near this good, possibly because he didn't want to be there anymore. That, and he pretty publicly demanded a trade.

The real irony is Toronto made a better offer but wanted both Zadorov and Tanev and wanted 50% retained on both. We were willing to take Z at full cap.

Probably because they figured he as buried behind Tanev, Hanafin, Weeger and Andersson so locked into a #5/6 spot. So no chance of a future and his contract was ending. He needed a chance to show his skills and none there.

Zadorov might have had a say in where he went or they just listened to his desire too.

Then there is the old Calgary GM being in TO and some one not wanting to make him look too good. Internal politics.

There is Milstein too

Zadorov has a long history of playing well. Until he doesn't.

The lows were very low for him in Denver as well. Clashed with the coach for taking penalties and focusing on chirping and scrums instead of playing defense.

When things go well everyone loves him. When they don't it's a distraction.

And Calgary is dumb.

I see some Oiler fans are complaining that Vancouver treated Calgary 'like a farm team', for sending over Lindholm and Big Z. And the reason they want to beat the Oilers so badly is that they're former Flames used to being on the wrong side of the 'Battle of Alberta'. LOL.

But all hail Allvin....without these two, I'm not sure the Canucks get past Nashville. Now that Guentzel is gone, by far the best in-season trade acquisitions in the entire league, belong to your Vancouver Canucks.

Sounds like Miller pre Tocchet. I think our coaches know how to focus this kind of energy.

Connor McWhinypants really lead that fanbase by example

Zadorov was a 4/5 guy as per most of the tv talking heads that i heard mention it when he was traded. Players improve...
he's playing like a solid No.3 guy. If we sign him to 5M will he revert back to a No.5 guy or at least be a solid second pairing No.4 guy.... bit of a risk but i'd take it
this is the risk with zadorov. he played like solid number 3 in the playoffs. but id be willing to give him 5yrs 5.5m and stick an A on him. hes very outspoken and funny and can protect hughes when needed if games got out of hand like in the playoffs this year. nashville targeted qh43, tocheet puts zaddy alongside him nobody touched him. happened in oilers series as well.

He's one of my favorite defencemen to watch out there since Ohlund, Bieksa and obviously Hughes.

Dim Benning, would probably have already gave him a Dim Benning special.

"10x10"

"Jim, you can't do..."

"10x10 and I'll throw in a 4th"

"...?"
