I guess I wish Krebs could put it all together. He’s always one play off. It’s annoying.
The first Caps tally, a PP goal, was on him. Had an easy chance to clear, but made a nice pass to their left point instead. Puck was behind UPL a few seconds later.

It is annoying. He's such a creative guy, who sees the ice well, but makes far too many awful decisions.

Best to remind ourselves he turns only 22 in Jan, and that pre-season is the time to be forgiving of mistakes. I have huge expectations for him.

Cozens like many his age, goes away for
the summer and finds a calm confidence carrying the puck and some mustard on
his shot he rarely showed last year... He really has the head and the drive when he believes he can finish..
A breakout season with Cozens demonstrating a consistent scoring touch would be a difference maker.

He told Adams he wanted to go to the WC's and work on finishing. He lead Canada in scoring. That at least seems to have carried over.

Sabres >> Bills confirmed.
We'll see.. w the depth and backups they should have won without all the weirdness.. But the sabres are 4and 0 so far and all of us here can't help but get enthusiastic for what should be a fun season. Until I'm shown otherwise.
We seem very quick and talented since last year... The D and the depth of it , is very intriguing.

This will be common sabres quote from a poster and so true for so many.. Donny has so much patience and the rewards without stifling creativity are allot of fun as they put it all together like Mr Giraffe.. last year.

Saw this in the athletic

These were early predictions……

two things jumped out at me…

in guessing what coach gets fired..

Ruff
Hakstol
Keefe

Hakstoll is starting his 2nd year with an expansion team. This is absurd guess

the also ask who makes the playoffs…

in the east they have Ottawa in Boston out for a spot and vegas in/ Dallas out in west.

buffalo has no hope according to them

I love.it. More bulletins. . our whole team lives and breathes hockey...

Peterka's ready. Kulich isn't terribly far off. Won't surprise me if he gets a total of 9 games up here and should REALLY push for a spot next year.

Injuries however Minor may breed break out stars and cool problems that we haven't had in years..

UPL looked good in the SO.

I can't help but wonder the genius of having Anderson helping this team and being on the roster as Upl and Comrie fight it out .

I see him ( like okposo as quiet player/coach) possibly allowing whoever loses to get a start or two from Roc..
26 plus players may have a hand in any success we have this year ( injury or vet days off was ( used to be) a huge drop-off in ability)

. I can't remember as I never paid attention early before..Many here have

. The excitement around all of this.. Anybody remember 2003 to 07 or any other time time there was this rolling buzz from rookie camp thru camp and pre? Any thoughts, I have no idea. And it's too early but ...Any similar years?

Only mogilney coming over was I interested before pre season.. I'm sure I'm clueless. Any thoughts?

GBU (I was half paying attention as my Bills feed was a train wreck.

G:
Cozens
Pilut
Kozak
Asplund
Sheahan (people really underestimate how much of an improvement he is over Eakin)
Peterka, Kulich, Quinn, Rousek (kind of. All these guys had bright spots but overall you are really hoping they take big strides this year because none of them really look like NHL players yet.)

Bad:
I don’t man, it’s preseason.
I guess I wish Krebs could put it all together. He’s always one play off. It’s annoying.

Ugly: My Bills feed. To watch THAT game in 15 second chunks, followed by 1 minute pauses, then skipping ahead 1 minute was tortuous.
i had some real bad streaming issues with youtubetv, the feed was like diggs, had to buffer every other play

His dad was a Pilon for the Islanders for many years.
went to a game in the aud and the people in front of us kept standing up and blocking our view with a sign that said "whats an overpriced islanders defender? a rich pilon" I think he may have assisted on the game winner

my overall hope for the season is that the standard allowances for injuries breeds a top 6 we like moving forward so we can start clearing room and building for the playoffs. team has way to many middle 6 forwards that could be centers might be wings might be trash and they need to thin the heard to get this next crop some ice time

I think they will trade Olofsson if they feel confident that Savoie and Kulich are ready for the NHL in 22/23.

Firstly, I think it would be a huge mistake to put either Savoie or Kulich in the NHL full time this season and to think they would make VO expendable. Kulich should spend the full year in the AHL (aside from some injury call ups) and Savoie should spend the full year in the WHL, perhaps after a 9 game sample if he earns it.

Secondly, looking at the Oliver Bjorkstrand trade and the cap situation around the league, I think things are too tight to get any meaningful value for Olofsson this year. Sure, if someone blows us away at the deadline we could consider it, but I think a trade next summer/season or at the 2024 deadline is where value would be maximized. And in the meantime VO will be productive and allow the team to not unnecessarily rush the kids.

This may sound weird but I wasn't thrilled that we signed Kozak this off season.

We lost one year of waivers control. So the clock starts ticking now, this is year 1 of the 3 years. Might as well have him in Rochester.

We won't lose a year of waiver control if he goes back to the WHL. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I personally would prefer to have him dominate the WHL for this season before making the jump to the AHL, but either way, I don't believe he's more than 2-3 years away from making the NHL, so waivers should not be an issue with him.

I could see him in the NHL in 2 years -- either after 1 WHL season + 1 AHL season, or after 2 AHL seasons if he goes to Rochester this year.

I like the fact that UPL got the whole game. It shows that the coach knows he came to camp in shape.

Of the 28 squads who have played in the preaseason so far, 22 have split goaltending duties. Not only did UPL get the whole game, he had overtime and the shootout.

The main pieces of a cup contending core that we have will be Dahlin, Power, Tage, Quinn, Peterka and Savoie. 2 top D, 2 top C and 2 top wingers. If all those players hit their potential we are looking good.

Anderson is strong in thr locker room.

UPL is playing in Rochester this year getting games in with random call ups. There is not a Comrie vs upl competition

upl is waiver exempt snd can do more work in Rochester. Next year he’d be in buffalo having to clear waivers. The A goalie would be Levi/ Potyillo if they sign either prior to 23/24.

there have bern comparison 8n finish between last year and 2003-2004 season.

both teams finished strong at a 100+ point pace over the last 25 games or so. The 03/04 didn’t have 04/05 so young played played in Rochester instead of buffalo, thrn they made a jump to a 100+ pt season. The feeling is this team could finish 90+ points if they are relatively healthy.
