Yeah Athens has been a cluster. The SPHL royally screwed up a chance at a decent market right in their footprint. The deal was all but signed with the league, so much so that the Athens socials even said SPHL when first published. The SPHL really has not done anything to stick it to the Fed since blocking Birmingham.

... (Athens Professional Hockey executive vice president Scott) Hull announced that the team is between four different names: The Athenians, Rock Lobsters, Athens Owls or the Classic City Panic. Hull added that there will be a final fan vote to select the name.

Hull said that the group asked for names from fans, and after a meeting with fellow executives settled on the four. While he wouldn’t name his favorite, he was happy with the selection.

“The one I really like is on there, so I’m pumped,” Hull said. ...

Ticket prices are market & venue & ownership business plan driven. But once a fan pays all of the 3rd-party seller fees, it's hard to tell the differences.
