Marc-André Dumont is sticking around Cape Breton. His contract has been extended through 2018-19. Ugh.
Éric Veilleux is the new head coach and general manager of the Victoriaville Tigres.
He keeps moving around.
Not related to coach but Halifax topic is close..
What about possible to see Marcel Patenaude named Gatineau GM..
Heard you Moose fans having hope to see him go, did you like this gm or not??
Mooseheads fans hated Patenaude but, a lot of that may have been him feeling pressure from ownership to be competitive every year.
Though, that's been a lot of Gatineau's problem the last few years under Groulx too. Trading off high picks for immediate help and having just-okay playoff runs to show for it every year.
Hopefully Marcel does a better job in Gatineau than he did his last few years in Halifax. Granted, the Moose went to two finals under his tenure but, he also passed up every opportunity to rebuild (like not trading Brine, Carnegie or Cormier), never seemed to have any goaltending going into any contending season, (took him 4 years to realize Roger Kennedy wasn't a QMJHL caliber goaltender.), and left the team in shambles at the end of his contract.
I don't think the Marchand trade was a bad one, it just wasn't the right one for the team at that time. IMO they should have spent the assets on a defenseman rather than an offensive forward. The team had lots of offense who played well together before the trade but the trade seemed to have thrown the offense off balance. Kinda too much of a good thing.
