Johnston is second out of Stars forwards in 5v5 icetime. Not sure how that is the third line?

Yeah Dallas's third line is better than the Oilers, but the Oilers first line has 10 5v5 goals and the Dallas first line of Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski has 3.

Does the third line advantage automatically trump a huge first line advantage the other way?

I wouldn't say the Stars have a true first line with gamebreaking talent--and it's probably the one weakness of the team. Johnston has been great, but he doesn't exist on the same plane of existence as McDavid/Drai

It’s true. Although if they can shut McDavid down like they did MacK, like Colorado we don’t have the depth to overcome that. Drais line could be a problem for Dallas too.

I think it almost exclusively comes down to goaltending. Can Skinner have more 900 games than 800 games and can Edmonton solve Oettinger.

I find this one hard to predict in that I dunno how many games this'll take Dallas.

On one hand, Dallas seems to like to spot their opponent a couple of wins that the Stars should've had, and that trend could continue. On the other, I look back at the 2014 Kings who went through an absolute war thru 3x 7 game series, and then quickly dispatched an inferior Rangers team in 5 games. So it wouldn't surprise me to see the Stars make quick work of this after playing two rounds vs top 5 contenders.

Iginla, Anderson, Manson, Gaustad, and Dillon aren't tough?

Benn hasn't fought in a while, doubt we see a scrap unless there's a nasty hit on a youngster.
Benn is a notorious "spot picker". Im not saying he has NEVER fought anyone tough. Im saying he usually avoids it like the plague. Sometimes when you play like Benn you have no choice but to fight a tougher guy.

Lets be bold

the OILERS take this series in 6 games, and advance to the finals thanks to Cody Ceci.

Im surprised Dallas is not more heavily favored by the sportsbooks. I thought the spread would be much higher

Same reason the Leafs and Oilers are so favored in cup odds. Large fanbases full of homers betting on their teams
Oilers have passionate fans but the city is only about a million people. Add northern Alberta and its maybe 500k more. Leafs I understand. There are billions of them in Ontario

I guess? I just figured the line would be much larger. I mean Im an Oilers fan but if I wanted to make $ I would have trouble not betting Dallas

Your current bottom 6 (including Perry as the 13th forward) has a combined 2 goals and 8 points.
To be fair, they've missed Henrique for the majority of the playoffs.

There's a lot of guys that need to be woken up offensively in Edmonton. One is the captain, who is likely due a pretty significant correction seeing as he's only got two goals so far.
