We 100% NEEDED to add a good goalie prospect in this draft, even more than D.

Ullmark, Johansson, and Kasdorf was all we had. Nobody developing at a lower level.

While I love taking guys with late round flyers, that strategy only works when you have a solid pipeline because more often than not those guys are going to bust. When you don't have a pipeline, you need to grab a stronger prospect.

If Botts isn't sold on Lehner as his long-term guy, and, with the likely departure of Petersen, the lack of a likely NHL starter anywhere in the system, I think they use one of their 2nd rounders on a G. Plus, looking at the Pens' draft history during his tenure there, they weren't afraid to go goaltender in the first few rounds.

Maybe Botterill likes our current D pipeline more than we realize (Guhle, Stephens, Borgen, Fitzgerald, maybe he even is higher on Nyberg/Budik). I'd love to add more to that, but let's also be honest, anyone we're drafting at this point is not jumping to the top of that list, which is what we really need.
