Excited Gabe is back for you guys tonight! Just in time to turn this Jet around.

I did just have a strange vision though.

One of Gabe's Enlarged Spleen skating beside him with a lone skate attached to it. Perhaps even scoring it's first ever NHL goal!

Prediction:
Jets - 5 Sens - 1

Goals by: Connor, Vilardi, Money, Pionk and GES.

Good luck tonight!

Your Mind
Am I being overly negative thinking if the series started today the Avs would run us out of the rink in 5?

It feels like they got better and more confident and our play got sloppier and less consistent.

Hoping to see some consistency down the stretch. A lot can change in 2-3 weeks.
Not in the least. The jets have been middling since the all star break.
At this point, I think the Jets would probably get run by anyone that makes the playoffs.

I don't disagree. Part of the benefit of picking up a depth defenseman at the TDL is the ability of allowing for some load management down the stretch.

Agree.

I'm a bit puzzled by the sticking power of Pionk over Miller at this point.

Assets were spent on Miller, and Pionk has regressed back into Pionk WTF! once again. JMO needs a rest, Pionk needs to sit -- why not dress the depth D we've paid for more regularly, and if we're going to seesaw into the playoffs at least have some key players fit and raring to go?

Maybe they could even shoehorn AHL D points leader and PP sparkplug Capo back in for a game or two?

Something, anything, to get Pionk out for a stretch of games FGS.

yeah they are like quasi load managing. they're sitting/rotating their least used pair, which includes a Dman with the least amount of NHL miles on their body. those 2 have the least amount of a work-load this season.

is that really load managing? certainly not in the NBA sense for sure, but i do think load management barely exists in the NHL to that degree.

guys like Morrissey and especially Pionk, Dillon warrant more of the "load management" than a 3rd pair that has the least minutes played & has actually played really well.

They can't really sit Morrissey and Demelo at this point given the L streak. they need wins to rebuild some momentum heading into the POs. whereas Pionk has been v bad as of late and might be a little addition by subtraction there. with Dillon i think Samberg can spell some games on the 2nd pair and have similar results. additionally, Dillon is also our oldest and most physical Dman so perhaps resting may be beneficial. Samberg-Schmidt has been real good where i think they can fill in as an entire 2nd pair and not lose a beat (or if that's to much, rotate the current 2nd pair over 2 games), with Stanley-Miller as a 3rd.

& really w/ Miller, he's barely played on this team.... shouldn't he be getting minutes to get accustomed to teammates, partners etc.

Unfortunate thing about tonight's game is it's a no win. If you lose it's going to be a f***ing shit show here. And frankly understandable. If the Jets win, well, you beat the lowly senators , do you want a cookie? I hate these kinds of games
I love every win, and I watch every game (well at least until it looks like I should shut it off.).

Yeah it's tough. We obviously picked up Miller as more of a #6/7 that can handle playoff hockey.

Great part is his numbers strongly suggest he is better than the role he is asked, which is great.

Heck, the data suggest he is arguably a better player than Pionk despite the vast difference in roles...

Not sure we will get the chance to take advantage of having him. Stanley is playing well and even Samberg is in and out of the lineup, Schmidt has been solid as well most of the year.

It's definitely not load management for any of the players that will be counted on to be difference makers. Kind of silly that term has been thrown around so much, totally agree.

Yup definitely not how the term was coined. Folks should see who the Spurs were load managing back in the day and why the term is attributed to them

If this version of load management is leading to Morrissey playing exorbitant amount of minutes as Jets31 suggested how beneficial is it really. Don't think Thursday was the first game like that either

Maybe when the Easter Bunny comes tonight he can bring us 2 pts instead of more chocolate which none of us need anyway.
What a bizarre suggestion!

The Easter Bunny doesn't bring points instead of chocolate, he brings two points AND chocolate. You never turn down the chocolate. Never.

And it's not like the Easter Bunny is just one elderly rabbit. He's a small gang of rabbits, elderly yes, but they race around the whole city on motorbikes and bring chocolate to all the good children. My dad explained it to me once. He even had a book with pictures.

Given the way the Centurions have been playing lately, we might have trouble getting those two points. Which makes getting the chocolate even more important.

Sounds like Hellebuyck is starting yet again tonight. I thought maybe they would rest him. Perhaps the combination of the following factors has something to do with it: a Saturday night game, at home, and on fan appreciation night. After this game, I really think we should ensure he gets some games off here and there to keep him as fresh as possible for the playoffs, especially with a great backup in Brossoit.

It's time for the Jets to start getting their shit together in these 9 final regular season games, getting the lines straightened out and pp going needs to happen for any chance at success in the playoffs, at this point it doesn't matter where we slot.
Have not figured the PP out in 2 years, doubt 9 more games is going to help.

Don't even care about the W/L rest of season. What we need is a consistent standard we don't drop below, and some play peaking at the level we need to score on playoff teams that can defend.

We haven't had either consistently for a good chunk of 2024... it's not too late.

Isn't that what Edward J. Smith said as well...

Other than the Jets' pathetic PPs the Jets have played pretty good the last 3 games and they could have won them with any kind of bounce going their way.
As long as the Jets keep playing good hockey the wins eventually will come.
Does it really matter where the Jets finish now?
In the West all eight playoff teams are good teams ... four of them will not move on to the 2nd round.
I think the pressure will be on the home teams when the playoffs starts.
