OT: Dale Hawerchuk has passed away

Sabres prospect Matej Pekar scored 14 goals for Barrie in the 2018-19 season and paid tribute to Hawerchuk on Twitter Wednesday.

Hawerchuk is one of my favorite all time Sabres. I loved to watch him play - great vision, great passer. I don't remember seeing anyone better in that regard on the Sabres - ever. I loved him on the point on the power play as well. Same reasons - great vision and passing and creativity. He was under-rated and overlooked here and in Winnipeg from a national standpoint. But I think that fans who love to watch the game, how plays unfold and develop and are created - really loved watching him play. I'm glad to see there are so many Hawerchuk fans here on the board.

He had a very bad case of a very tough disease. That's a tough break for someone younger than I am. May he rest in peace and hold a place in our hearts and memories for as long as we're around.
