Well, Malmö is for sure not beating Brynäs/HV71 in the kvalserien.

There is many good players in Malmö but are stuck in this Redhaws mud. Should be a smörgåsbord for other SHL teams to get some of them.

Händemark - Leksand
M.Sylvegård - Växjö
E.Sylvegård - Luleå/LHC
Rosdahl - Oskarshamn
Wernblom - MoDo
Carl Persson - Rögle
Adam Ollas Mattsson - smells like Frölunda/Växjö
Joakim Ryan - Smells like Oskarshamn
Marmelind - Örebro
Werner - FBK

Adam Ollas Mattsson on top of either Borgman/Folin/Tömmernes or Bengtsson/Persson/Cooper/Häman Aktell?

E.Sylvegård - Luleå/LHC

I’m fond of Emil, and I’d be surprised if Komarov for instance extends with Luleå, thus there might be a spot for someone like Sylvegård with similar game and similar prayer of a goal scoring upside next season. Emil Larsson was also rumored for a comeback, but he then extended with Örebro, so I guess Sylvegård could be a useful add…

… But as of this season, I really don’t want to hear more rumors and speculations about Luleå adding low-skill grinders!

How you swedes see Samuel Johannesson? Columbus didn't offer contract for him and this season he has exploded in Brynas in points wise. How is his defensive game and do you see that he has some realistic NHL potential?

He's rumored to sign with Columbus

Yes, the latest rumors state that Omark’s made up his mind on returning to Luleå after this season, and that his contract with Geneve-Servette apparently has some clause which would allow this. Pontus Andreasson is also expected to return next season, and Omark being there is supposed to have convinced him.

Based on rumors and confirmed extensions, Luleå might look something like this next season:

Omark* - Kempe - Andreasson*
Komarek? - Connolly - Shinnimin
Patrik Zdrahal* - David Lilja* - Nikola Pasic*
Nikupeteri - Berglund - Einar
Olausson?

Gustafsson - ?
Sellgren - Hardegård*
Själin - ?

Lassinantti
Ward

* Rumors to be confirmed
? = More or less likely extension

I’m actually not sure how likely Komarek is for an extension, at this point. He hasn’t really lived up to expectations very consistently. During his previous stint, a shorter one during the season where covid cancelled the playoffs, he pretty much single-handedly fixed Luleå’s ailing power play, which was the one thing that team didn’t have going for it. He has been pretty inconsistent and disappointing since, and if he asks for too much I’m not sure Luleå extends him.

Olausson has done very well since returning and I think deserves an extension.

Tyrväinen is rumored to entertain nice offers from the NLA and otherwise, and not play out the last year of his contract with Luleå. I do think Luleå may try to convince him to stay.

Extending Honka would be on top of everybody’s wish list but he’s probably looking at the NLA. Engsund is rumored to his mother club Oskarshamn. We need good replacements for a return to the top of the standings.

Whats the deal with Einar? He dont produce points even thought he has the skills. And while being hardworking and quick i think Luleå should need someone more physical than him on the checking unit. Perhaps extending Komarov or get back Emil Sylvegård.

Also i think i saw some rumours about Petter Emanuelsson returning. He was always the better of the Emanuelsson brothers, more complete as a player.

Einar is not a good finisher, would be the main explanation, plus his confidence has bottomed out. I feel as if the best thing for him could be a loan to an Allsvenskan team to regain some of his confidence. He hasn’t really been a great fit anywhere these last two seasons, with one extremely notable exception: when he subbed in for Andreasson on Omark’s line in the finals against Färjestad, he was amazing. With De La Rose et al zeroed in on Omark, Einar had the extra space to repeatedly weave through Färjestad’s defense.
Previously, I think he formed a line with Brännström and Tyrväinen which worked well, and before that he thrived with Lundeström and Emil Larsson. For whatever reason, we haven’t found another line for him where he’s been able to produce.

I agree that Einar isn’t a good checker, and especially if Tyrväinen leaves we could use a Sylvegård or Larsson, for sure. But don’t stare to blindly on that fourth line configuration: Bulan will want to roll four lines with responsible two way players on each line. Berglund’s line 5v5 is typically him and one or two younger players, who aren’t as good defensively as he is.

I began writing this post before tonight’s game where Einar scored the OT winner. Did he save the dry gunpowder for the important final stretch?!
Yeah, Petter was slightly better allround, bigger and the better sniper. Einar is quicker, more creative and able to create a great scoring chance for himself (only to lob a muffin on the belly of the goalie). I haven’t heard anything about him returning, and I don’t really see a spot for a player of his type (decent 2nd line forward) if most of the other rumors are confirmed. I think Petter made mistakes/got unlucky when he turned down a contract extension in his last year. Iirc, Luleå wanted to extend him, but he wanted to try his luck abroad. Unfortunately, he was injured, and Luleå filled his spot with others. Eventually he went to Kärpät, but I think he’s continued having some injury woes.

Talk about flying under the rader. He is one of the best players in SHL. And he is gritty to add to that.

14 points in the last 7 games are inflating those numbers a bit, wouldn't you say? Not that 0,6 points per game the rest of the season is bad in any way but it's probably truer to what player he is.

Yeah, he seems streaky/able to thrive briefly in perfect conditions. I remember Marcus looking primed for a great year during the preseason/first few games of last season, scoring at will on Söderberg’s line. I believe I had him on my inaugural fantasy roster, but not for long. He finished the season with 11 goals and 18 points.

Also, hasn’t it been typical of Malmö in the last two or three seasons to somewhat get their shit together way too late in the season? And one or both of the Sylvegårds all of the sudden going on a hot streak? Not sure if it was last season or the one prior Emil put up monster production to drag Malmö out of a deep hole and into the playoffs.
