That’s his whole Schtick. Without all the antics he wouldn’t get as many viewers. That’s all he wants.
He end the Jic show running after Jic with a glass of liquid, kind of the end of Benny Hill Shows except Benny was escaping women. Watching Marinaro arguing is a condensed fast forward of hundred pages we can read here. It's fast, rude, raw, insulting but it doesn't "niaise with the puck".

-It doesn't matter where teams draft someone. All it takes is one scouting dept to like a player for them to reach for him. Overall consensus was not for RB at 5. McKenzie's list, which is consolidated, had him at 8, and he rose there throughout the year. I personally would have been ok with him at 8, but at 5, there were better options.
And Eiserman’s on some lists at 2 and others at 14.

Two other clubs wanted him at 5th. And even if you’re saying 8th that’s a few picks away, hardly a reach.
-We might eke out some stars (small s), but I don't think anyone is a dominant gamebreaker. A McDavid, a Pastrnak, a Kopitar, a Kucherov, a Hedman, a Kane, a Draisaitl, a Chara. We don't have that up front or on D.
Again, Hutson just smashed the NCAA record for points. How in the world can we not see at least star potential there?

You’re talking about guys not even in the league yet or just starting their careers. Moreover, we have a pretty high volume of really good prospects, we have another high pick this year - we might wind up with multiple stars.

Do you think the Bruins knew they had a star in Pasternak? No they didn’t. He emerged over time. It’s the same with say… Slaf. We don’t really know what he’ll be yet.
Players who can singlehandedly take over and win you games. You NEED that. Cup winners almost ALWAYS have that. Do you really see any of our guys being that dominant? Do you see Suzuki being Kopitar? Do you see Reinbacher, who's having a terrible D+1 and was never that offensively gifted, being Doughty? Slaf might (MIGHT) become a Rantanen, but who's his Mackinnon?
The New Jersey Devils didn’t have a Mackinnon, neither did the Bruins… we don’t need a Mackinnon if we’ve got stars elsewhere.

There’s no way to know if the stars are here yet. But I reject your assertion that we don’t have star potential- we certainly do. But we have have to wait and see.
-I don't follow the posting career of everyone on here. Every time we get a new management, people generally go full cheerleader for a while and then ignore warning signs, wanting to hope for the best. This org under Gorton and Hughes seems more competent than previous regimes in general, but I think they're making mistakes and I think there are warning signs, such as nepotism, old boys club hires, not dealing with the medical evaluation problems more quickly, not properly tanking, prioritizing culture over talent (the Bergevin special), playing injured players instead of sitting them in lost seasons, etc.
Then don’t bring up cheerleading accusations if you don’t know who you’re talking to.

I argued for years we should rebuild. The way to do that is to stockpile talent. And the team has ‘tanked’ exactly as they should. We have two top fives in two drafts plus another top ten (in a top heavy) draft this year. We’ve also traded away vets and stockpiled picks and prospects. We’re doing exactly what I’d hoped we’d do.
I don't want baseline competence. I want THE BEST.

-There are plenty of teams with volumes of young talent. The Atlantic is going to be murderer's row for a while. Buckle up.
The only way to get the BEST is the lottery. You can’t count on that. What you can do is draft high for a few years and stockpile the best talent you can. That’s the way it’s always been done.

Btw, it’s entirely possible that we got the two best players in the 2022 draft. That draft might be one of the best we’ve ever had.
-I don't think we're in good shape yet. If we draft a really, REALLY good forward this year, I think we might save things. If we continue to f*** up and draft 8th or something, I don't think things will go well.
It’s been TWO years…

It’s not like we’re in the middle of a rebuild, we’re at the start. We won’t be in the playoffs next year either btw. We’ll have tons of young blueliners to use as currency… And we won’t see guys like RB and Hutson probably until 25-26.

I just need people to stop saying we got great value for Allen. Trading him without retention for future considerations would have been better for us.
Why? We have nearly 20 million in space for next year with a full roster already under contract. Xhekaj, Ylonen, Pearson, White, and Wideman are the only pending free agents, cap is not really an issue. I can certainly understand that it may have been preferable to keep the slot for next year, but that feels a little circular to me (we should have kept the slot instead of taking a 3rd so that we can get a 3rd next year?). We'll still have one slot freed up on July 1 and if they were going to do something like retain on Anderson's contract to trade him, they can still do that.

The slots exist to be used. They used the slot to get a 3rd rounder with an outside chance at a 2nd which seems completely reasonable to me. Holding on to the slot at this deadline so that maybe we could do the exact same thing next deadline doesn't really matter much to me. I don't think the trade is some master stroke with the retain and the conditions factored in, but again the slots exist to be used and turning the slot into a 3rd and a bit of dead cap in a season where cap won't be a problem seems like a reasonable decision. The flat cap is also done after this year, retain slots are likely to become less valuable in the future.

I'd take the brief years Galchenyuk was a 20 goal guy over the longevity of being a plug defenseman that Dumba is enjoying.
Galchenyuk was pa-the-tic. He never learned anything, 7 teams skipped him, we have to thank him for being himself in the 7th PO game vs TO, he made one of his typical blind pass that led to the winning goal to eliminate the Laffs. Even the Laffs didn't keep him, that says a lot. Nuf said.

I didn't follow Dumba's career closely, but both seemed to be much less effective when the rules changed (calling hooking to the hands, etc...) and the game sped up and faster players took over.

Don't forget, Mackinnon wasn't Mackinnon until like 5 years into his career. And it took him 10 years to hit the level he's at now.
Draisaitl, Kucherov, Pasta, Chara... none of these guys were sure fire superstars.

Again, maybe we have no stars. I don't know anymore than anyone else. But we simply don't KNOW yet.

Hard to develop dog shit
18 years old and played really well. Top ten scorer when used on the first line in 2016. We played DD in front of him. Dumbest f***ing shit I've ever seen.

There's NO excuse. None.

Stop trying to pretend like there was no talent. Stop trying to pretend like we had better options. No we did not.

Morevoer, we could've just traded him.

The past is the past. I ain’t gonna whine about it. Time to ignore this crao
The best path towards the future is to learn from the mistakes of the past.

Look at Slaf this year. He was struggling. What did MSL do? He moved him up in the lineup. Presto... instant improvement.

This regime is so far ahead of where we were. It's important to recognize it and acknowledge it. Hopefully people have learned that development matters.

Feel free to go to the former player thread if you wish to continue Chuck/DD. Some posts have been moved over there.

Thanks for quoting me exactly what I wrote, lol. Yeah it's fixed but that same time of bad developpment, Gallagher succeed, so was Eller, Danault and Lehkonen. Sometimes, the player have to take a large part of the blame. Not listening to the coach, party all night and taking drugs is not the way, no matter how bad management was.

Feel free to rewrite history, putting 100% the blame on management, I don't buy it, not me, especially in #27 case.

Very few players succeeded under the old regime. Development was atrocious. I'm not sure how anyone can try to defend it.

Flip that to now? Completely different story. All of a sudden the players we're drafting (including the late Timmins picks) are suddenly panning out.

Why is that?

Assuming Hertl's knees are ok, big missed opportunity on Hertl. Suzuki/Hertl/Dach all signed long term + our D + a true starting goalie in Monty is a baseline for a contending team. We could have easily matched that package with our picks and prospects.

Hope we find a similar opportunity to level up at the draft.
