ROR and McD are teaching everyone how to be a pro night in and night out. Same can be said about Gus. Fil and Roman have bought in too. Sissons already did this.

The kids have to earn their way on to the roster and honestly, that’s the way it should be. Fil, Gus and ROR play a 200’ game every night. That is the expectation. It’s why the McCarron line is still out there every night and the kids aren’t. Until the kids learn to play like that, they will continue to develop in Milwaukee.

The thing is they have to force their way into the lineup. If they do, they will hopefully force lesser talented players out of the lineup all the while keeping the culture alive and well.

And for some who are lambasting Beauvillier, if any of the kids or Glass were playing better, they’d be in the lineup. Trotz has history with him so he’s going to get a longer leash because he’s playing the 200’ game, even if he’s not producing offensively at this time.

As far as Molendyk goes, if he’s good enough to make the team and jump others on the depth chart, then he deserves a roster spot. The days of cooking kids should be over. If they’re good enough, let them play. It appears some of them aren’t ready for the big time whereas others are making a strong case to get called up sooner than later.

What has Beauvillier done to show he is playing a 200' game? He's a -6 since he's been here. I'm not even big on Glass but I'd say he's definitely outplayed Beauvillier recently. Doesn't really matter much to me that he played well for Trotz a couple years ago because he's not been good for us or good at any of his other stops this season.

Before Beauvillier got the trip to the pressbox he had some issues with his defensive rush sort outs. He was completely losing his coverage and just gliding back into the zone. Tuesday there was a time he almost fell into that same trap but right before it was too late he shoulder checked and sped up to get into the crosscrease passing lane. It was good to see that he might have learned his lesson and most likely saved a goal.

If that makes him any better than Glass, I don't know but I'd say that play earned him another game. I do think Beauvillier has a higher more consistent energy level than Glass and is probably just more of a personal preference for Brunette.

Maybe Beauvillier vs Glass is a "hockey is voodoo" thing. We got our butts kicked with Glass in the lineup vs Beauvillier games are competitive and we are getting points? Idk. I dont see us keeping Beauvillier personally. Im not huge on what Glass has brought this season but his last couple games werent bad at all so idk whats up.

I’d be surprised if Zuckerberg, Beauvillier, Jarret or Sherwood are back next year. I’d expect them to be replaced by players acquired during draft trades or free agent signings.

Yeah I dunno what it is about Beauvillier but it sure seems to me like he gets the benefit of the doubt based on his performance in previous seasons. Which I can't really square with the idea that we're building a meritocracy and if players want to get into the lineup they have to earn it.

I don't know if it's benefit of the doubt or giving him a chance to gel/get the system before the playoffs. We got him for a reason and if he's gonna be worth anything he needs to get comfortable with his teammates and the system. We will know how long the leash really is when the playoffs start

Beauvillier only played 8 games before he was shown the pressbox. That's not very long to get acclimated to a new team. 1G 1A in 12 games played that's not great but acting like Glass is demonstrably better than Beauvillier is a stretch. I can easily pick out plays and times that Glass is out of position or making the wrong read during forecheck and backcheck. I'd again say that it comes down to personal preference for the coach and it probably comes down to his tenaciousness on the forecheck.

I hope Zuck likes it here and is willing to do 2-3yrs @ 3-4M . He's thriving in Bruno's system

As an example of Glass's brain farts there was a play in the last game he played before the trade deadline and his long pressbox stint.

Sisson was F1 and flushed the opponent from behind the net up the defensive right-side wall. Trenin was F2 along the wall in the passing lane to an opposing player, Glass was F3 in the middle with another opponent and everything was working exactly as drawn up. The puck carrier was about to skate right into the defense in the neutral zone or most likely make a bad pass.

This unfortunately is where Glass screws the pooch, he decides to leave his guy and double team the puck carrier (Trenin's job), leaving the middle open. Trenin sees this and reacts to cover center ice, unfortunately this opens up the pass up the wall which then goes to the player in the middle that has gotten away from Trenin's check (through no fault of Trenin).

That decision created a 3v2 with Trenin trailing behind the play. If I remember correctly Buffalo got the initial shot on net then a follow up or two but ultimately no goal was scored. In the grand scheme of the game it wound up not being a goal against so the fans aren't going to pick it apart but the coaches are going to see that and wonder what exactly Glass was thinking. They'll also lose some trust in him to implement the system properly.

In this forecheck it is vital that everyone does their job or you wind up with odd man rushes against because it's so aggressive. Both Beauvillier and Glass have been sat for mistakes on the forecheck/backcheck but the difference is that Glass has been in the system since September and Beauvillier for a month.

It's not a choice of Glass vs. Beauvillier though. We also have several guys in Milwaukee that are options. Afanasyev has been hurt so that may explain it partially but given how we've handled him the rest of the season I'm not sure he gets a look anyways. Doesn't mean we couldn't give L'Hereux or Kemell a shot. I know a bunch of people will say that doing that will destroy their development or something but I completely disagree.

Because of the situation in both Milwaukee and here I would imagine everything is set roster wise both places, barring injury or the Preds making the 3rd round. I don't really have a problem with that... Give this crew (FAs) a chance to show they're worth keeping

None of those guys were going to come in and push anyone out of the lineup in the last 25ish games since the trade deadline.

Before that, Milwaukee was on a roll and the only reason to bring anyone up was incase of injury or to replace someone that was reassigned to Milwaukee. That's how Afanasyev got called up but it wound up being bad timing for him.

Could Afanasyev be better than Beauvillier? Maybe, but, is he going to be demonstrably better in the near term? I highly doubt it. Why would the team want to bring in a guy that has VERY little or absolutely no NHL experience just to get him experience for the sake of being a younger roster?

I just dont understand this mind set.

Stastney is a perfect example of being ready, like really actually ready not hopefully ready, and forcing your way into the lineup. Tomasino is decidedly not an example.

So we bring in a guy with lots of experience that does nothing either. Yeah that makes sense. At least a younger guy gets some benefit in the future. Beaverboy isn't even offering anything right now.

I just find it interesting that we bring in Vets and its perfectly acceptable to hope they do something, but bringing up one of kids and hoping they do something is apparently insane.

That’s exactly my point though. We give vets more opportunity than the young guys.

Is it the right choice? In the short term maybe and if we’re trying to actually make a run so be it. Which is why I’ve said I’m on board with our decisions as long as we actually have expectations of making noise in the playoffs. In the longer term I see no reason why we’d prefer to give Beauvillier ice time. And for me personally the bar to match Beauvillier’s performance is low enough why not give a younger guy that opportunity?

My main problem is with the argument that we should have low expectations of a team of veteran players. For me you should either think you can actually contend or should be working towards contending in the future. That doesn’t mean sell every good player you have but I do think you err on the side of giving younger guys opportunities. Not directed at you in particular because I know your attitude is generally we should expect to win all the time.

I'm pretty sure Trotz said "The team played well enough to get in playoff position that I became a buyer instead of a seller". To "help" a team would lend credence to obtaining players w/ playoff experience, since it is a whole new level of play, other than saying ok, lets hurt your playoff chances of success to let the kids get experience..... so the people who are disapointed we didn't go full youth movement can watch them flounder trying to survive instead of actually rewarding the effort and buy in of the winning culture we're trying to build. Sorry your rebuild became a successful retool with the framework to bring the rest of the "youth movement" up within the next 2-3yrs. I guess No Neck is asking for different kind of patience. If this orginization plays this brand of Hockey and makes their draft picks fit that brand...we should not be "mushy" and we'll be back in the hunt for Division titles again. If your competing for the division title almost every year. You are by any definition a Cup contender

Great take. Power is taken never given. If someone gives you power you never had to begin with.

So then why did we trade Trenin, a guy who has not only been solid in the playoffs in the past, but also to a team we may end up facing in the playoffs? Zucker has been fine, but Trenin would have been far better on the opposite wing than Beaverboy.

Same reason he kept Carrier. Contracts. Trenin was always contenious and probably said he's going to test the market. Carrier is still negotiating and Fabbro was retained in case Carrier walks because he thinks he deserves more than Fabbro
