Just in case anyone thought that Lowry didn't score that goal

A win is a win is a win (and a very much needed one as well), Colorado threw everything they had at us I think and we survived but geez, we have to be able to handle the predictable heavy forecheck better. Lead to many many puck management mistakes and a few goals against but there is every reason to believe we can be much better going forward. I`m sure Bones will emphasize basic "puck management" as the thing that needs to be much better.

I really had a hard time being objective while watching the last 3 minutes or so of 5v6 hockey. Damn the guys seemed to work so hard to gain control of the puck and then - just be in a hurry to throw it back to the Avs, frequently no deeper than mid ice so as to avoid an icing. If this is what they`re coached to do, we are in for some exiting finishes for sure. And yeah, the attempts by Pionk in particular to hard rim the puck out are pretty much doomed to fail when the other guys have 6 players in your zone.

Our best skaters were our best skaters tonight.

El Capitano led the way. So nice to see him rewarded with some hard-nosed, playoff style goals.

Felt really good seeing KC get on the score sheet. The forecheck he had to create a goal as well was just what the doctor ordered. Nobody is expecting him to be smashing bodies out there, but more of that, please.

I also felt Ehlers was starting to really gain confidence and grew into the game. He was starting to really feel it. A good sign moving forward to the next games. The play and set-up to Pionk was ridiculous, but against these guys, you gotta get that rubber to the net.

Monahan had a sneaky good game. His positioning and use of his stick still is just marveling to me. He plays such a big boy game out there.

Don't even really want to comment on any of our D outside of Mo. He's a metronome. So steady.

The NZ needs to be completely cleaned up moving forward. Bones was adamant it was all three phases -- which it was -- but the Avalanche were gaining the zone with speed far too easily. You can't take those chances with their forward group, especially MacKinnon. (Feels like he never leaves the ice surface, my Lord) It also let players like Wood and Colton really be effective tonight which the team needs to eliminate going forward.

I expect a very different looking game come Tuesday from the Jets.

Best time of the year. Soak it in everybody. Grateful every time this time of the year rolls around and our boys are left standing. You gotta love it.

Definitely Not a Picasso, but a win is a win.

Maybe having only won by 1 goal as opposed to say 7-3 or 7-4 will really allow them to look in the mirror and know where they need to be better.

A 3 or 4 goal win could be deceiving and having them feeling better about the way they played. Granted, a couple of those AVS goals were lucky imo.

That last goal must have bounced off of all 12 guys on the ice and the refs before it went in.

Breakdown of the goals against
1. Pionk with a brain dead crossice clear instead of chipping it up the boards into the avs zone and I think he's the one changing afterward... leaving samberg hanging
2. Samberg doesn't clear and then Stan backs into the corner without awareness of the forecheck - samberg makes a bad play but Stan is not moving at all
3. Nino loses the puck at the blue line - bad bounce maybe - helle needs to save this one
4. Powerplay deflection... dont see anyone really at fault
5. Powerplay again - but pionk makes another desperation chaos play instead of sticking to the scheme... he does this all the time - his play means the other jets lose track of the puck
6. Iafallos stick breaks - pionk panics behind the net and rims the puck at 100mph straight to Colorado- jets have no idea where the puck is

Common theme? Bednar can send a hard forecheck in the first and rely on pionk to panic for the rest of the game - leave his wingers tight to the boards

Bowness will always default to experience and in a series with lots of scoring we need Toffoli. It's one game
Bowness always default to vet, but, not sure if Toffoli is the better offensive player than perfetti so worth discussing on a hockey board. Also the one game I’m not sure I buy that argument as nhl hockey is nhl hockey. It just heightens in playoffs but skill is skill.

I think second goal Stan is already there for a quick outlet pass. Instead of passing it to him Samberg tries to go up middle, by time Stan can react puck is already in the net.
