Even if you don’t agree with it, you have to like the discipline aspect of it. And you can’t tell me that as a fan you didn’t smile or laugh when you read the story.
I actually have a tremendous amount of respect for Lou and how his players love him despite his ridiculous rules. He's had decades in the league without any controversy that I can think of. In the age where you see the Quennevilles, Babcocks, Constantines of the world getting swallowed up by their own old school indiscretions, Lou, although 80, has been loved and respected by most, if not all his players and coaches.

With that being said, Lou players are generally afraid of Lou and are by design boring off the ice.

Justin Gill is leading the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in points (3+9 in 8 games) and they currently lead the QMJHL. Another diamond in the rough like Maggio, Durandeau and Dufour?

That he, as a knock-kneed skater, was a double overager taken with their 3rd of 5 picks in a draft where many saw him as a "maybe" in the 6th or 7th round, says the Q scout really went to bat for him.

I must add that his team is LOADED right now. That he's the topscorer is great, but heading into the season, his club is felt to be top 3 in the league.

Freshmen Finley with 2+2 in 8 games and Nelson with 2+2 in 7 games.

Ljungkrantz with 8+2 in 11 games. Iskhakov with 2+6 in 6 games.

Lennox is 1-1 with a 2.02 GAA and a .927 SV with Worcester. Skarek still sub .900 with a +3.00 GAA, he’s junk.

Ljungkrantz is playing 1st line with top PP, interesting to watch, was never given any offensive time or much OZ starts up to this point AFAIK.

It's a weird story because he's playing in the second league with a team that is expected to battle for a lower playoff spot while the team he grew up with and played his SHL hockey for, Brynäs, was relegated just last spring (which he was part of), so it's playing in the same league now. With an absolutely stacked line-up.

I've watched the highlights and this is the best hockey I've seen from Ljungkrantz.

That said, this is basically ECHL level play here, even if the top 3-5 teams could hang well with SHL clubs.

He has signed a contract to play for powerhouse Färjestad as of next season

Jesse Nurmi seems to have had a horrible start to the season judging by those numbers.

Had no business playing a lower line role in the top league.

None.

I mean, he surely learned SOMETHING, but those aren't the minutes you want kids like this playing. A season split between the junior team (U20) and a Mestis team would have been best at this point.

May end up that way. The season is young.

I'm 65 and 70-year-old women won't go out with me, so it's not correlation . . . it's coincidence!
Just wait till you’re 80 like Lou.

By then, many of your male peers will have gone on to greener pastures and you’ll have the nursing home ladies eating out of your hands. It’ll be a puréed diet but beggars can’t be choosers.

Overager and he's in the QMJHL. That doesn't translate well to the NHL.

I hope he gets a shot at coming to the Island. Isles are dying for more skill up front.
He didn't exactly impress me much when he was playing in preseason, but thats me. Dufour and maggio deserve a callup over him.

Back to hockey.

Has anyone watched the Baby Isles games? Liukas has only played six games, but I’m surprised to see him without any points.

It’s way too early to make any judgments but I was wondering how he looks and whether it might take time for him to adjust to the AHL game. Any input would be appreciated.

He's simply not a points guy. That won't be his calling card.

From what I've seen, he has been involved physically and he has been adjusting to the smaller rinks.

But it'll likely take him a while.

Best case scenario over the next 3-4 minor league seasons is that you end up with Cal Clutterbuck's game in Matt Martin's body (incl. Martin's skating).

As for this season, I'm sure things will pick up as he gets more comfortable, but we're prolly looking at a guy who plays like 56 games, has 60 penalty minutes, and maybe goes 7-4-11 along the way.

PS) Expect Kuefler to be the same kind of project, but a year or two behind Liukas.
