"We couldve waited and signed him!" was among the more obviously dumb rebuild takes out there
mehhhhhhhhh I can't blame that train of thought at the time. only with the benefit of hindsight did it really make sense why NYR wanted him on NHL ice as soon as possible. Literally nobody called Fox being as good as he is, even half. Except Scott Wheeler lmao

Well obviously the Rangers thought he could play at a high level right away and guess what, they were right. The armchair GMs here were wrong. Shocker.

By armchair GMs, you mean everybody lol. I highly doubt that anybody on this board or even in the organization expected him to hit the ground running like he did.

They traded for him and signed him immediately, then he broke camp with the team. The Rangers and Gorton(credit to him) clearly were aware he could and would step right into the NHL.

As we all expected, yes. But not to immediately put himself in the conversation as one of the best defensemen in the league.

I mean by thinking that 2 second rounders was an overpay for a guy who was highly touted. Nobody expected him to be a Norris trophy winning Dman so soon but he was supposed to be good.

There were people on this board who I believe even during his Norris year held that belief. Maybe it was just the one person, but yeah.

The Rangers trajectory benefited from him getting here when he did. Trouba and Tony D took on the shit while he learned the league.

This is the sole reason imo, we are 1-14 on the PP this series.

He’s not having an awful playoffs, but this isn’t the Fox we know. He hardly joins the rush or buzzes deep in the zone this series. There’s a fear there that his skating won’t allow him to get back fast enough.

He’s also not making lateral moves as often, or trying to beat guys 1 on 1 which we usually always see from him.

Imo, after we are eliminated, whenever that it, we find out he has a torn MCL or PCL in his knee…. More then likely he’ll have some sort of repair surgery in the near future.

The fact he was able to contribute at all and not be a complete liability playing on a stump for a leg is a minor miracle. Hard to blame the PPs ineptitude solely on him. At minimum he wasn't actively hurting it like Zib and Panarin with their awful giveaways

Don't care if he was injured, everyone dealing with something this time of year...

Like pretty much everyeone else outside of the goalie and a couple players, he wasn't close to good enough or up to his expected standards.

This time of year you find a way to push through pain, with the help of drugs and shots etc.

I don't even wanna hear his injury or any other Ranger players read off in season the post mortem.

Was anyone else annoyed about McDonough mentioning that Adam Fox hasn't scored a goal since two years ago in the playoffs 5 times a game? Why is it necessary to bring that up 5 times a game every game?
Offensive dman who is praised so highly for his offense hasn't scored a goal in 2 consecutive post seasons. Uhm it says something about the player no?
