TSN thinks so.
Maybe Hayes should turn the channel once in a while off of his favorite team the Leafs and actually watch a Jets game , hey Hayes and Toronto Sports Network.......
TSN thinks so.
A lot of what they see is where the money goes. They need to try and balance all the public money that goes on the home town teams in larger markets. They are also going up against the Avs with league wide superstars and a recent Cup. Jets will always be under valued despite playing well against the Avs and hopefully home ice advantage.Of course I'll be cheering for the Jets, but I'm not oblivious to the fact that sportsbooks are pretty much unanimous in having us as a significant underdog (~3:2) despite being nearly a lock to have home ice advantage. What do they all see that we with our home-goggles might not?
I'm not one to defend TSN or SN, but Hayes literally says the Jets can win but it will tough, our special teams could be our downfall against them and that Hellebuyck will be the difference, which is all true. It wasn't "no they can't, the Jets are frauds and are getting swept". But the title is designed to get clicked and raise some ire.
If anything, TSN has been quite positive in their opinions of the Jets this year.
He had some good points but it really sounded like he hadn't watched many Jets games... I wouldn't characterize this team as slow at all - or grinding. They play a hard forecheck and wear teams down by clogging lanes... grinding sounds more like neutral zone trap.He didn't say Hellebuyck would be the difference. He said Helle would have to stand on his head. Apparently he is completely unaware of the season series between the two.
He also said Jets need to keep it at 5v5, which I agree with. More accurately, they need to stay out of the box.
TSN thinks so.
I agree with everything you wrote and add the standard F*ck Vegas! just for good measure. This pisses me off...
this is just the TV shows bowing to the sports betting fans....
a bunch of people who don't know crap about the teams involved, go look at the standings and the history, without actually watching the reg season, make bets push the odds for Colorado up, and TSN just spews out a storyline to support the betting...... no real analysis just parroting the sportsbook trends....
Sure Colorado scores a ton against bottom feeders... so they are #1 with 297 GF...and the Jets are #15 with 251GF
BUT
Jets are #1 in goals against with 193 GA... and Colorado are 15th at 251 GA
Jets outscored Avs 4-2, 6-2,7-0 = 17-4 in reg season.....
and Defence and goaltending win cups.
it should be a Jets as favorites by a mile....but here we are playing mouthpiece to Vegas casinos instead of talking about hockey. and suddenly Jetss are dogs?
f*** off.
Ah OK, I misinterpreted what he said about Helle. He didn't say Hellebuyck would be the difference. He said Helle would have to stand on his head. Apparently he is completely unaware of the season series between the two.

You can if you are Boston and Toronto, 15 and 10 loser points (dis)respectively. Take those away and they both are well under 100You can't fake your way to 100+ point seasons. Maybe we are 10 points less without our goaltending (just throwing a number out), but the last time I checked goaltenders are part of the team's success or failure.
Not being a fraud does not guarantee playoff success. There is so much variability in hockey that a lucky bounce one way or another, a hot goaltender, injuries, tilted penalty calls, can determine the outcome of a very close series. And the top teams in the West are very close to one another. Nashville wasn't a fraud when we sent them home in the first round a few years back, when their keeper had an epicly bad outing in game 7.
Now if we get swept or close to swept in the first, then we should revisit the discussion
Jets tied for #1 in ROW at 50.!!!!You can if you are Boston and Toronto, 15 and 10 loser points (dis)respectively. Take those away and they both are well under 100
Not intended to defend the Leafs haha...You can if you are Boston and Toronto, 15 and 10 loser points (dis)respectively. Take those away and they both are well under 100

I never thought of looking at OT points that way, but I prefer whatever makes the Leafs look worse haha. Not intended to defend the Leafs haha...
To me the points that are fraud points are the OT winner points, not loser points.
Winning 3v3 doesn't translate anything to playoffs. Teams are both earning a point from being even after 60. Anything after that is what doesn't matter, imo.

lol... when we lose/play bad it's: the jets are a lottery team with out helle or in the mushy middle, when the jets win it's: the only thing that matters is what we do in the playoffs..A wise person once said things are never as good as they look or as bad as they look. Therefore, it is the end result that matters. We will not know if this team is a fraud or not. Until the playoffs are over for them
Could also tire out their star players as long as we kill off the penalties .He is right about one thing ... Special teams.
Avs have a big advantage in ST so the big story will be is how many penalties will Bettman's boys call?
The more penalties called even if the Avs don't score it will help them because the Jets' 4th line will get less ice time against the Avs 4th line.
That argument only works if ppl are willing to come here. Otherwise I who knows what jets do with 5 mil that makes a big difference if Helly won’t resign.Agreed.
This team is much more than just a superstar goaltender. If Helle weren't there and Brossoit was our starter we likely would have had a league min salaried backup leaving room for the Jets to have added 5+ million more in salaries for players. That would have been even more depth so the team probably still is a 95+ point team.
The big difference will be in the playoffs where the superstars have to be superstars. Good isn't good enough in the playoffs.
Sounds like something I'd say. Except I'm not wise lolA wise person once said things are never as good as they look or as bad as they look. Therefore, it is the end result that matters. We will not know if this team is a fraud or not. Until the playoffs are over for them

We currently sit 7th in the league and with a win tonight we won't go lower and could still inch up on that. And agreed in no way are we frauds. You don't stay in the top 10 of the world's greatest hockey league for an entire season and be a fraud. This team might not win the cup but they are legit.
