This is going a bit off-topic, but Jason Robertson's success in the NHL has changed the thinking on this a little. Skating can be improved and some guys have weird growth spurts which affect how well and when their skating develops. What you really can't teach is hockey sense.
Agreed. Was shocked that Zach Benson made the team as the smallest AND slowest guy on the team, but he's honestly the most consistent player on the team, and the best forward on the ice many nights. It's the hockey sense that makes up for all of it.

that aint great- that baw has like 1 pt all season - hes a waste of space on the preds roster
Didn't injuries significantly hamper his development though? Comparing someone to prospect Cody Glass is a compliment. NHL player Cody Glass, not so much.

If he's drafted by the WWE, will he have to change his name to Daniel Nathan?

Portland gave up a lot, but this was the team all the speculation was pointing to. Night and day type teams. He now gets to play on a team who forces play and their dmen actually move the puck. Cagnoni, Sotheran, etc, and Johnston will put him in the right position to succeed. Which is a big deal for both Danielson and Detroit.

Yep, you dont give up that much unless you plan on using the guy a lot and putting him in a spot to succeed either.

Will be interesting to see what he does now

One of the knocks against Danielson last year was that he tended to turn on the afterburners and skate himself out of room because he didn't/couldn't rely on his linemates. It's nice to see him alternating his speed and learn how to use the other guys on the ice.

Larkin used to do that in his early career a bit too. Nice to see the points coming for Danielson though. Almost 1.6 points per game in Portland for likely the best defensive forward in the WHL

the hyperbole about a team that still ended up making the Playoffs even though they traded him long enough ago that he played more games for Portland in the regular season this year than he did for Brandon continues to be a bit much
I don't quite understand what you're inferring here.

I can tell you that Brandon with Danielson would still have been stomped in the playoffs just as well. It's about how much better he's making Portland, one of the best teams in the league, and how much better of a team they are for him.

He's playing lights out for a contender and one win away from playing for a WHL championship and a legit shot at the Memorial Cup. What player wouldn't benefit from that opportunity directly before they turn pro?

This is why we are bumping his thread here and on the Wings board. Those that don't watch him play still seem to be on the same June 2023 "middle 6 ceiling" rhetoric 10 months later, as if to them he took no steps forward this year.

This thread got weird when a bunch of stat watching pundits started talking shit only to disappear as now they are proven to be complete morons about judging any young hockey players.

Remember the usernames of these pundits, they have no credibility on HFboards. Any credibility they may have had has now been permanently revoked.
