You think bringing in Dubois and giving him that contract is good?
They have one playoff win with Fiala on the team who has been a non factor each 2 playoff years hes here.
Tonight they played with a goalie that was their 3rd stringer who started the season in the AHL.
Clarke is an offensive specialist that woulda been helping the powerplay all year. Roy is playing horribly and they could have gotten some assets for him.
Kaliyev is a goal scorer they could have used tonight on the powerplay also.
Do you agree that theres been some mismanagement?
I'm more than happy to have this discussions after the series is over what I take issue with is the circle jerk Kings suck hopefully we lose so Blake can get fired and we can blow it all up attitude of the fandom. I didn't even want Blake to be the GM when he was hired but this is where we are and he has actually done a decent job so far getting out of mistake he's gotten himself into that didn't work out so I am kinda curious to see what he does with the PLD situation.

Change is definitely coming, just what exactly is up in the air. I'd wager AEG isn't going to commit to a significant sale of players, and the new GM won't be hired to rebuild or have the green light to make any major deals, they will probably be hired on the premise of righting the ship... I don't see things getting significantly better in the near future, will probably have to be drawn out another 1-3 seasons before we see any significant changes.

[..] He (and Luc) were nostalgic hires, not based on any track record or demonstrated skill but on Dan Beckerman's complete misunderstanding of hockey and what fans want. He honestly thought a walk down memory lane, a memory which includes some of the darkest times of the Kings franchise is what the fans were asking for.
This is reallly interesting to me, because thats exactly what I assumed happened. How did you reach this conclusion - just by Beckerman's public comments?

"this is where we are" is applicable in a lot of situations and nice source of copium, but this is not one where it's acceptable

this is blake repeatedly making the same mistake over and over and throwing assets at the SELF-CREATED problem when he could have literally done NOTHING and ended up in a better place. that's a net negative

I’m going with the assumption the Kings lose in 5 or 6, and Blake and hopefully Luc are severed their walking papers. Who are some options for GM and coach? It’d be nice to have a coach that encourages young players and plays them in their proper positions and to their strengths.

I mean at some point they have to let these centers they keep drafting actually play at center longer than 40ish games don’t they??

Unfortunately I think you’re right. This feels more like 2017 than 2006.

What's the first major move you guys would do? The obvious one is getting rid of Dubois but, outside of that what is it? Do you try to go at it again with a legitimate new coach in a new system or is it time to just do a full teardown and trade the likes of Danault, Gavrikov, Fiala, Kempe, and even ask Drew if he'd waive?

If Luc stays...."I would like to introduce the new Los Angeles Kings GM Marc Bergevin" -
At that point, go into hibernation for his tenure.

I was a manager in manufacturing and at one point managed 14,000 employees. I'm going to tell you in no uncertain terms that BargainBin wouldn't get past floor supervisor position. He simply doesn't know how to manage an organization and he relies on nepotism and loyalty to fill positions and hide his incompetence.

As an example, you can bet everything you have that BargainBin had a a hand in PLDonkey signing. In his simple mind...."He's a big French Canadian kid" would be the only criteria.

Good luck...

You can't. They all have NTC or NMC.

Kempe, Byfield and Clarke are the only ones that could be moved and should NOT be moved.

Kempe is cut from the same cloth as a 2012-2014 King. He could've fit right in on those teams. The fact that he was still able to find success in this Kings system says a lot about his character.

I believe you can move Danault this offseason. His M-NTC kicks in (10 team no trade list)

Kempe has a M-NTC that kicks in. He can submit a 10 team no trade on July 1. But he's one I would not deal.

We are stuck with Fiala, good or bad, until at least June 16, 2026 when his M-NTC begins : 10 team no trade list.

Not defending Blake at all obviously but his background and career path set him up perfectly to be a GM. His pedigree was as good as it gets from that standpoint.

His decisions snowballed and his vision sucked, he'll learn a lot from this tenure I'm sure.

Now as far as being the right guy right time for this org? That was a bad call almost from the start. I agreed with the hiring because of his pedigree, but disagreed on the optics; he quickly showed some apt skills like not adhering to sunk cost fallacy, but he ended up repeating too many mistakes, and with no vision EVER in place other than the 1-3-1. Not going to hyperanalyze right now, just meant based solely on his background...he's a 'good hire'. There are plenty of good reasons to hate on him without inventing that one.

Now is not the time to continue with Blakes OJT. There are still some good players on this team. They need to hit the lottery like they did with Lombardi, who was the right guy at the right time and was also confident enough to bring in Sutter. There's no guarantees of a future cup but the right GM can still position this team to get there.

Bless Byfield and Spence, they're great. Kopitar and Kempe have been stout as well, but have been getting greater opportunity. Almost everyone else can suck it.

Next year, bid Roy Arvidsson Lizotte etc. goodbye, they're all dead to me. I actually like Arvidsson more than Fiala and would keep him but I guess Fiala guarantees us points vs. bottom 16 teams so it is what it is. I'd also buy out Dubois but it's not my wallet so I just presume he's a brick here. Kaliyev...I'm sure even with a fresh front office the damage is done so trade him for a young LHD?

Dubois - Byfield - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Fiala
Turcotte - Kopitar - Laferriere
x - Thomas - x

Give Fagemo, Kaliyev, Lee, Ward chances to earn a spot

Anderson-Doughty
Gavrikov-Clarke
Moverare/Englund-Spence

Need to find/trade for a good young LHD that can be here for a while. Would love to pair Bahl or similar with Clarke or Spence.

Goaltender--without a blockbuster trade (PLD for Ullmark?), looks like another year of platooning while Portillo and/or Ingham wins some more time, EP should get at least a few games for coffee. Re-sign Rittich if possible, Copley has been a good soldier but is he toast after his knee? I'd also definitely be searching for more young potential to battle Portillo and Ingham. Hammer is too many years out right now. Keep powder dry in case opportunity for something presents itself, like Anaheim dropping a guy (suchanek) or Knight or something.

*disclaimer--I don't think the above team does much either, I'd really want to jettison anyone over age 26 at this point over time, including Kempe and Danault at the deadline, to REALLY bottom out for picks...this team above probably blackholes. BUt i also don't think AEG is going to let us set fire to any more money anytime soon. The above allows you to at least save some money and stock some assets so you CAN reshape the roster instead of being capped out and with no prospects or picks. Just trying to make chicken soup out of chicken shit.

Losing Iafallo, Vilardi and Kupari set the kings back big time. As an oiler fan, I'm glad we didn't have to deal with Iafallo. PLD is beyond useless.
But PLD has more goals than the other three combined in the playoffs. Haha. Just stirring shit. PLD has been horrid at 6 mil a year let alone 8.5

Ya me either.. it probably means w get Bergovin and poutine at the concessions. Never had poutine but I here its pretty good
It is 10 times better then the Kings and gives less indigestion
