It’s actually crazy how bad mechs suck
Theyre supposedly only supposed to be used to defend an area. I havent had a chance to to try one yet. Seems like the game is still trying to find it's footing. Luckily, the game play is insanely fun, so people seem to be fine waiting for them to figure out the stats on guns, heavy armor, etc...

Ive slowed down playing, but Im not a huge gamer anyways. It's still my go to game, though.

I just picked up this game and it’s a bit underwhelming? I’ve only played like 4 missions but they seem pretty short where you just run around, shoot a few bugs that crop up, grab some stuff, then leave and repeat over and over? I’m hoping it’s just based on the missions I’ve done and easy difficulty that the game starts with.

it gets harder at level 3 and a lot harder at level 4

I believe there are 10* (edit: 9*) difficulty levels. I've been playing for over a month now, and I'm stuck at level 7 for bugs and level 6 for Automatons (I'm a level 31). In fact, there was a lot of 'rah-rah' that the game was too difficult on higher levels. Odds are, unless you're an absolutely savage gamer with good teammates, you won't be able to play the highest difficulty without getting absolutely destroyed. You're supposed to die a lot, so as you progress up in difficulty just note that the game is designed for you to be a grunt that democracy has deemed expendable.

So, I'd give it a longer look. It becomes way more fun as you progress + the developers are going to continue adding content. The one thing you likely won't believe as you play higher difficulty levels is "this game is too easy".

Lots of drama around PSN requirements to play the game. Damn. Seems like it'd getting review bombed, and a lot of people either can't (PSN isnt supported in their country) or won't play the game (out of protest) anymore.

I love the game, but big, greedy corporations really peeve me.

Yep stopped playing. f*** them. Sony gets hacked all the time but want us to link our accounts. They deserve everything they are getting.

The shittiest thing they did was sell to consumers in countries that dont support PSN.

Exactly. They are punishing players that don't even have a choice or any say in the matter of the service being available in their region or not.

This a worse bait and switch than games that splice in microtransactions on release after getting good reviews.

This was strange to see play out because the game got delisted from over a hundred countries, reportedly 177, on steam because there is no playstation account support in those regions. Which brings the question, did sony know those regions werent supported and manually delist them, or was that a move by valve? Hard to tell, we will never know, since spoiler alert, Sony has reverse their decision and its no longer mandatory to link your PSN

Review bombing is a good startegy to make big companies listen. Hell, even small companies.

I remember playing pick-up at a local rink. It was late at night on a weekday. They'd consistently schedule broom ball (name?) in a time slot that would overlap with the skate and shoot. To the point the game wouldn't start until 15-20 mins later than it should have.

Now, I had work early the next morning, so not only was it annoying wait the extra time- that's 20 mins more a night I could've been sleeping.

So, I left a terribly negative review. The next time I went and signed my name on the list, the man at the desk said Dubi Doo? I dont like that name. He pulled me aside to talk about my negative review. I told him exactly how I felt. Low and behold, we didn't have that scheduling issue anymore.

Also, That'd be the ultimate overlook, and I find it hard to believe. I think it's more likely they saw their major hit of a game get demolished by negative reviews, and that would hit them where it hurts...financially.

Sony took a big L on this, super happy with everyone who pushed back. They won’t be able to force us who want to play PC games to enter their eco system. They will lose the trust of anyone on PC thinking of purchasing any games published by them.

The playerbase is at 100k concurrent player right now, its been a pretty consistent decline from being 300-400k concurrent around launch. While I think the account linking had an effect, I myself got frustrated with the new content being useless or glitchy 9 times out of 10. Even the stuff at launch was glitchy (spear) but I dont see anybody using the new stuff. At least power creep is not a problem I guess?

100k for them is still a massive win, and that's just Steam numbers. I believe they've said PS5 numbers are on par with Steam generally. So 200k even down from like 500k to 800k is just massive.

Also, isn't it normal for a game to peak early, then lose some of those numbers until it settles on a lower number of players? I saw 200k+ on when I played two nights ago.

I still love the game. It's the only one Im playing, though I only play about 4 times a week for an hour or so. I don't really care about weapon nerfs. I don't keep up on all of those updates, so I just use whatever guns I want, and they still seem to do the job well as I typically play level 8. I am not very good at video games, btw.

Also, I've been lucky enough not to deal with many bugs.

What’s your load out? I can’t really find a good consistent load out I can consistently contribute.

Sony still getting shredded online. They have lost the trust of the PC gaming community and next time a game is published by Sony being released on PC they probably won’t be reaching the sales they want.

Looks good on them. Stay out of our community and don’t force people into your crappy eco system.

Now if only we could get EA to remove all their stupid requirements too so when I replay Mass Effect I don't have to rage at the beginning.

Then after that we start going after launchers that completely ruin the experience. Looking at you 2K

Depends on the mission type and if it's bugs or automatons.

My "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubble gum" loadout is usually:
Scorcher Plasma Rifle- I believe that's what it's called. Best primary I own.
Uzi
Railgun- I always bring the Railgun.
Laser
3rd Strat of choice depending on variables
Autocannon

Last night I rocked
Liberator
Uzi
Arc Thrower
Assault Rifle Rover (name?)
Cluster Bomb
Railgun
And got over 300 kills with only a couple of deaths on level 8. I joined a good random party, though.

To be honest, I do think there's a disconnect from millennial gamers and younger gamers. I grew up playing Socom. We didn't have a million upgrades to open, and we certainly weren't striving to level up. We just played for fun. Some guns sucked; some were awesome. Now-a-days, it's more about grinding and people want every gun/ item to be savage. Those things don't matter much to me. I'm going to try everything even if my skill level drops a bit. Hell, I go full pyro (flame thrower, napalm, etc...) sometimes just for the funzies.

The teamwork and gameplay were second to none in Socom, and that's what Helldivers has brought back to me. This game was tailor-made for Millennials, haha.
