This is probably going to make me jealous. The nearest team to me is the Bruins, which is quite annoying as a leafs fan..... and about a 11 hour drive away. As much as I would love to go to a live NHL game, hard to justify spending hundreds on tickets and gas, hotels for a team I dislike.

Chose half an hour, since that was the lowest option.

I live in downtown Toronto, and could drive to Scotiabank Arena in approximately 7-8 minutes.

I am not a Toronto Maple Leafs fan though.

Same except for Vancouver. 10 minute drive.

Wow must be nice. And i'm guessing there is public transportation to get you there quickly as well. I feel lucky that at least Halifax is an hour away, so it's been fun to be able tp watch the world juniors this year.

Yep, exactly. I can definitely drive faster, but there would be no point. Transit would take ~20 mins, most of which would be the walk to the station.

Now only if the team was any good...

About 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic.

It kind of goes both ways, though. It's definitely nice living in an NHL market with that big platform for the local team.

On the other hand, you can be just as hardcore of a fan for a minor-league or junior team, at a small fraction of the cost and with far better connection to the actual team and games. As much as I enjoy the NHL, I would love to have some of that small-league atmosphere back and that is not accessible at all. Even if I travel to see it elsewhere, it's missing the local familiarity which is the whole point of the experience.

Kind of like restaurants. It's great to have a Michelin-star restaurant in your city, but going there every night is impractical and weirdly unsatisfying compared to doing the same at a local mom&pop.

Same here, are you driving from Durham too? My friend in Charlotte used to live 10 minutes from the Checkers so had the opposite feeling as you.

From Cary, but in such a way that I have to go around Cary on local roads rather than 40.

I grew up with the Checkers. Loved, loved that combination of ECHL atmosphere and historic big city arena. To me that was a better experience dollar-for-dollar than the NHL, even though the NHL is obviously the overall better product.

I think the closest would be the Ducks geographically, but the kings would be more convenient if that is a word you use when talking about traffic in the greater LA area lol.

But it's a 1.5-2hr drive from where I am to Wellington Airport, 14.5hrs+ flying to LAX and then another 10 - 20 hours in traffic from LAX to either the Honda Center or Staples.

1/2ish hr drive to UBS would be the closest driving wise.

But:
A. f*** the Islanders
B. It’s about a 10 min walk to the LIRR, which I can just take basically direct to MSG

24 minutes to Downtown STL. Just a 12-minute commute to DI hockey (women & men), which I can actually afford to attend.

3 minute drive from the Kraken practice facility, 15-20 minutes from the arena depending on traffic on I5, sometimes worse.

I live outside of Atlanta (Newnan, Georgia). The closest rink to me is Nashville, which is a 4 and a half to 5 hour drive depending on traffic. Try to go to at least one NHL game a year.

3 hours for me, depending on how I-85/40 are, although there's other routes from my town to get to PNC Arena in Raleigh.

I live in Charlotte but root for Islanders. Never been to game in Raleigh. Did go to some Checkers games at the old venue

NYI are as close as my TV set thanks to Center Ice package!

I've a faster route than you from Norway.
I live in Bergen in Norway. United airlines have a direct route Bergen-Newark during the summer season.
Flight Bergen-Newark about 7 hrs. + about 2 hours transport to/from airports.

So around 9 hrs To New Jersey Devils.
