Lmao so the Florida pick which you guys are already going to get? For the 8000th time, you don’t own the Flames pick.

Guhle is a good player but no one is trading a top ten pick for a 3/4 D. Let alone another top ten pick

Yeah this is more than fair value. Not sure why MTL would be looking for another mystery box but number 9 for Guhle is fair, and 2 2nds for the late 1st should be fair.

Calgary should jump right on this to rebuild their left side and take away the stress of potentially finishing 11th and losing that valuable pick next year

well the plan is to finish up the rebuild in 2 years

So Habs gets in 2024
#5
#9
#25

2025
CGY first #12
MTL first #8
Florida first #25

Ahh I may have been confused about the conditions. I don't think Calgary gives up their 1st next year.

I think 9th overall for Guhle would be approximately fair 1 for 1.

I got confused and assumed Montreal would be sending Calgary the Florida pick, and Calgary would be sending the 2 2nds.

I highly doubt calgary sends away what could very easily be a top 5 pick next year

lol robbery for the Habs. Guhle for a 9th overall, a top ten pick next year, and Florida’s 1st. No thanks

No I don't. I just tend to talk about the ones that I think do have a chance. Do you see me talking about Samu Salminen? Chase Stillman? Topias Vilen? Pytlik? Clarke?

You are either
1. Crushing on me
2. just trying to stir something up
3. think that

Hutson
Wifi
Struble
Engstrom
Trudeau

Will all be roster players for the Habs in 2-3 years.
To be fair Wifi and Struble are already NHL caliber D. Hutson looks very promising as an NHL D but we’ll wait to see until he pulls a full NHL season before.

MTL : Ghule + Pitt 2nd 2025 + Avs 2nd 2024
for
CGY : #9 + Florida first pick 2025

Ghule would be a stud on CGY defense for years (no magic bean here) + 2 x 2nd

MTL gets #9 + Florida pick
MTL can spare Ghule with all the LHD comming up
I know Guhle has potential but not at that value.

hes 2 yrs iin with 1 ELC yr left then looking for a pay day vs the potential of 9OA likely being better given the D in this draft

9OA>> Guhle
FLA 1st>> PIT+COL 2nds

Guhle for FLA 1st+ a small add is more equitable
or Guhle+ 2nd for FLA 1st and CGY recent 1st (Zary)

It's not 2 2nds for a late 1st though. It's 2 2nds to guarantee Calgary doesn't keep their own 2025 1st from the Monahan trade, which swaps to the Panthers 1st if Calgary drafts in the top 10 next year (which is very likely). So to clarify it is 2 2nds for a most likely top 10 pick.

Edit* saw you got it mixed up and corrected yourself a couple posts later

Yeah no I got confused because in my head:

Calgary pick= pick Calgary currently owns, almost certainly will keep
Florida pick=pick montreal almost certainly will get.

So when I read Florida pick I assumed it was the pick going from MTL to Calgary

Why not just finish it this year with #5, #25, their 2025 1st and Calgary/Florida 2025’s first … and keep Guhle?

Trading Guhle for a pick is a huge, huge step back for Montreal. Neither the players, management or fans wants that

The value is fair. I’ll give you that.

As a Habs fan I would not trade Guhle unless it was for an established young forward.

Trying to get Calgary to send Florida's pick to be sure to get Calgary's pick in the Monahan deal is the kind of thing people here might not notice, but NHL GMs will notice, for sure.

If Dickinson or Buium is there at #9 I do it.

Moving Guhle now would be akin to when Montreal traded away Sergachev. Ie, monumentally stupid. They'll keep him and thier top 8 pick this year. I could see the Winnipeg pick being in play but this scenario involving Calgary is asinine. Calgary will keep thier pick this year and most likely send Florida's 1st next season to satisfy the terms of the Monahan trade.
