What Makes a Prospect?
A player will be considered a prospect until he meets the following criteria:
  • If a prospect is a skater (forward, defenseman) and has played in 65 NHL games or more before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday; or, if a goaltender has played in 45 NHL games before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday, that player will be considered graduated to the NHL. Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club.
  • An NCAA player who signs his first contract at or above the age of 22 has three years to meet the above criteria (65/45), while those NCAA players that turn pro under the age of 22 will be subjected to the criteria above.
  • European players who sign their first NHL contract at or above the age of 22 have three seasons from the time they sign that contract to meet the above criteria. Those European players below the age of 22 that have signed a NHL contract will be subjected to the criteria in section one.
  • Notwithstanding the previous criteria, any skater who has played six seasons since his selection in the NHL Entry Draft, and any goaltender who has played seven seasons since his selection, will be considered graduated for the purposes of prospect eligibility. Any prospect signing at or above the age of 25 will have one year of prospect eligibility.

NOTE: These are general guidelines and should be followed the majority of the time but certain players may still be listed as prospects if circumstances warrant.

For anyone that looks at that table above on a regular basis, I know it looks terrible in the default/light UI. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to change the ugly elements as there appears to be far fewer customization options than before, and a lot of the code has been dropped, as well. It looks OK in dark mode.

Ok great. On my laptop there just wasn't enough contrast, the white background was too bright, and so together you could just barely read it. The table header is also too dark compared to the text (which is an easy fix but then it looks weird on the dark mode). Glad to hear though you think it looks fine.

On my iphone it looks nice and clean. Very easy to read.

Except for the headers as u mentioned. But thats not a big deal for me.

Number 78, Othmann, with point number 78 tonight on his 39th goal of the season. Deflected a shot, save by the goalie, rebound comes up into the air and he bats it into the net in mid air on his backhand. Love this kid, just scores goals in all different ways.

39 Goals, 39 Assists, 78 Points in 53 games.

13 games left on the season, can he score 11 goals to hit 50? 22 points to score 100? Might be a long shot for both but a few multi goal games can make it interesting.

Garand is having a very good year. He could be in line for some hardware. The WHL gives out the Del Wilson trophy to the top goaltender in the league, and the CHL goalie of the year is picked based on the trophy winners from each of the 3 leagues.

Garand's rankings:

WHL:
GAA: 1st
SV%: 2nd (Gauthier)
Wins: 2nd (Cossa)

CHL:
GAA: 1st
SV%: 2nd (Gauthier)
Wins: 4th (Cossa, Brochu, Cavallin)

Cossa (39g/30w), Brochu (43g/29w) and Cavallin (45g/29w) have all played more games than Garand (35g/27w). Gauthier, in 33 games, has a .932 sv% to Garand's .922 sv%.

Garand only has 2 shutouts on the year. There are 9 goalies with more just in the WHL. It seems he is very similar to Shesty. Few shutouts, but very consistent game to game.

The WHL winner has won the CHL award the last 3 years, and 12 times in the last 17 years.

BTW, how do we not sign this guy? Joe Ranger

So i just switched to dark mode. The tables still look good ib my iphone. The blue font you use after the players names is hard to read, but other than that it is good.

In light mode just the table headers are hard to read.

Otherwise the tables render fine on my phone.

I actually think all of our goalie prospects are basically lottery tickets. If we can hit on one of Garand, Boyoko, or Ol' Ass, it would be fantastic. Garand seems like the most likely, but I like the other two as well.

I am all for taking one goalie in the middle rounds every draft with how well we develop them.

Time to sit down and watch the Rangers' best prospect/nyr2k2's favorite of all time: Simon Kjellberg

Let's go Engineers!
He'll sign his ELC tonight
(Yeah I'm starting rumors, but he's already 22)

Season all but over for Kjellberg. He finished with a line of 8-19-27 in 43 games. Wildly exceeding my expectations. Still not sure there's much there, but good for him.

Season also likely over for Hank Kempf, who finished with 8 assists in 32 games for Cornell (who could still theoretically get into the tournament).

Merrimack lost yesterday with Ollas having his first rough outing since early in the year. They're done. Brett Berard and Providence were eliminated from the HEA tournament yesterday so they're done.

Riley Hughes all that's left on the NCAA front. Ciccolini would be there too if not for the injury.

Will Cuylle picked up #31 for the OT winner.

Nice tip, didn’t waste any time.

But the announcers, man the pbp goes from energetic and hopeful (something about a blessing in disguise) to dejected and heartbroken in a flash after Cuyle wins it. Then the Color guy is even better and can barely muster the strength to go over the play. True fans calling the game, very funny to hear.

In yesterday's game Matt Rempe was given 5 for boarding and a game misconduct. I haven't seen the hit myself but it's concerning for him, since he has already been suspended three times this season (once for boarding, once for kneeing, once for interaction with an official). If he's suspended I'll post it here.

EDIT: The hit:

Holy shit that was bad. He's getting quite a few games for that. I'd say 5-8 games easily based on history this season. Still can't believe Drury signed this guy, absolutely terrible contract management.

Dopey hit but I think I can piece together the Rempe thing: he's on the Ryan Reaves track, that's what they want him to try to become, and he has about as much chance of hitting that mark as idk Korczak does of becoming Ryan Strome, even if Ryan Strome is a more valuable player.

I don't know. I really didn't think the hit was all that terrible. Rempe wasn't the one that initiated contact. I get that he's supposed to hold back there, and by the book, deserved the game. But, the player that got boarded stopped early and was trying to throw a reverse hit. He just got run over by a much larger player. He'll probably get a couple games due to prior discipline, but I don't think the hit was particularly malicious. I mean, he didn't even drop his shoulder.
