Halttunen not on the lineup for HIFK's season opener. Very interested to see how things turn out with him. If he feels like he isn't getting enough icetime, does he leave for NA? HIFK also has Uronen and Kaskimäki as young guys competing for icetime (Neither of them is also on lineup for HIFK's season opener).
If you are a young talent who wants to get ice time in Liiga already you should never go to a team like HIFK. Might be even the worst team in Liiga for young talents. Well, sure if you are a product of HIFK’s own junior’s and are really exceptionally talented, you might have a slight chance at playing in Liiga already at Halttunen’s age.

He should obviously terminate his contract with HIFK and sign with Jukurit :sarcasm:

Halttunen plays tonight's U20 SM sarja game HIFK vs Kiekko-Espoo Ch.
He'll get his SM liiga minutes and games when he's ready on that so you can stop that whining.

No whining. Just stating out a fact about HIFK being probably the worst team in Liiga with how they treat young talents. That’s why often their own junior talents go elsewhere to find ice time. As they definitely should. I understand that you don’t like anyone bringing this up as an HIFK fan. But I don’t really care if you like it or not, that’s just the way it is.

First period, nothing in the first two shifts.

A good third shift, took down a bad pass on the opposing blueline, followed by a good chance with a wraparound.

Demonstrated his good shot (although missed the net) in his fourth shift followed by a good tackle.

A great fifth shift, drove to the net and almost scored - got tripped but somehow there was no call.

Moves really well and has some great offensive instincts, had to be in the defensive zone only on one shift and that was really brief.

Second period, sixth shift was cut short by an offside.

Almost scored on his seventh shift yet again, from a gorgeous pass by Tallberg - slapshot from right under the circle. Then had an offside.

Eight shift, a huge tackle in the o-zone. Almost forechecked himself into a breakaway.

Ninth shift, took a long stretchpass on the opposing blueline and got a SOG - played a good cycle following the draw.

Tenth shift, made a good defensive play in the neutral zone.

Got his eleventh shift in after KooKoo's 2-1 goal, the whole team was chasing the play.

Third period, twelfth shift, had a SOG.

Thirteenth shift, a shot over the net, lost the puck in the neutral zone (although the pass to him was horrendous) - had a good board battle the following attack and a big tackle.

Fourteenth shift, had an offside. KooKoo made an icing, Halttunen tried to take a shot through the traffic, puck got turnee around, Halttunen made a tackle. Took a stick to the face later in the shift, no penalty.

Fifteenth shift, got to experience the leagues worst powerplay - biggest turn of events was HIFK's icing.

Sixteenth shift, made an opening for himself but Dyk decided to throw the puck at the net with a lousy backhand.

Seventeenth shift, HIFK had an empty net, a terrible pass from Melart turned into an empty net goal by KooKoo.

Eighteenth and last shift, won a board battle just before the buzzer.

All in all, Halttunen was a TOP-3 player for HIFK tonight, a very good first showing.

Halttunen had 2nd best individual expected goals and 3rd best Game Score stats for his team in his first Liiga game. Also had 76.5% Corsi.

So eye test and advanced stats agree he had a good game.

Wow, that was a vicious hit. To be fair he had his head down and if Sissons doesn’t take him out there he hears if from the coach, but he didn’t need to annihilate him like that.

IMO Refs made right call. That was a dangerous play and given what we know now about head trauma it had to a major and a game at least.

Here's the better video.
Those MTV Sport clips might be geo blocked.
So 5+20 from this hit. Did refs right call or overreacted they and was this clean or not by NHL rules?

Hopefully Halttunen didn't get concussion that would means that he might miss U20 WJC's.
Halttunen is absolutely dark horse to make Finland's U20 WJC roster even if he would be 13 forward.
