There have been way too many goals scored on us going off of our Dmen the past couple yrs with Nurse leading the way. There is something that we do that differs from all other teams (minus Cole)
It seems our Dmen have a tendency to get too close to the goalie when defending ( Nurse seems most guilty).
Generally this becomes a screen or barrier for the goalie, or causes bad deflections.
Also, when both Dmen are trying to block shots, this doubles the goalies’ challenge when theyre In close.
Watching Dallas in the playoffs, their Dmen create space for the goalie (box out players….tie up sticks).
If it were up to me, I’d say forwards block shots, Dmen play the man. Keep the surprises to a minimum.

They played nearly perfectly in their own end and it still was a close one goal game.
Don't care what anyone says, the Canucks are a great and deep team. Oilers will need three more games as good defensively as their last game or better in order to have a chance to prevail.

Are the Nucks deep? Pius Suter, Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty are currently in their top 6.

They have opportune scoring and are good at defending the middle of their ice in their zone. Their forward group is weak in general IMO.

It's kind of funny how that narrative is pushed, yet Edmonton has 12 players that have scored a goal in the playoffs. Vancouver only has 8 and have played an extra game.

It's a mirage because they have a great 3rd line, so people assume "oh so deep!"

Their second line blows and the 4th line is irrelevant. First line is good, but they are more opportune scorers than a dominant possession line.

Vancouver's bottom 6 hasn't done jack in this series either. If they're deeper than Edmonton they haven't shown it. Boeser's line does pretty much all the scoring for them.

The Canucks win games on the back of opportunistic scoring and strong goaltending. They really aren't a complicated team.

Luck, the word is luck. You shoot pucks randomly into feet, 8 times out of 10 they aren't scoring chances.
Exactly the word is absolutely luck. They are averaging 20 shots a game this playoffs. Everyone keeps talking about the Oilers being dominated 5v5 but the numbers don’t support this. The Canucks as they have all year are running purely on a ridiculous PDO. If not for bad goaltending and horseshoes up their ass this series would have been done in 4/5 games.
