I find it so funny that the new "crosby and ovechkin" russian/canadian superstars in Bedard and Michkov and both undersized around 5'10 and not particularly fast.

A lot of the concerns that people had about Bedard seem to apply to Michkov and likewise I think Michkov's talent will supersede the physical limitations.

Personally I do still think Bedard is half a tier above Michkov as of right now, putting a slightly better PPG in a much better league. Michkov could certainly close that gap in a couple of years tho. Cant wait to watch him play in the NHL

Keep in mind the NHL is a lot higher scoring of a league. Michkov is a lot higher up the league charts in scoring per game.

Had pneumonia and it’s correlating symptoms for the last 3 months of the year too. All in all really good season for MM.

Expect him to break the PPG barrier next season and continue to improve in all other aspects of the game!

Is SKA going to bring him back and let him be one of their most important players?

I would think beating their whole team in PPG would cause them to realize he has more than earned that chance.

I think by the end of next season he can be the best player in the KHL. This year, he didn't get there, but became one of the best players in the league. Next year I think he can be the best.

Really good D+1 year. I expect that he becomes a top line player on SKA next season if they know whats good for them over there.

Best PPG for a Russian prospects in professional hockey history during a D+1 season. 41 pts in 48 games (0.85 ppg). Unequivocally a big success and positive development. Next stop is getting top 6 and PP time with SKA next season.

Considering he only played 17 mins a game and PP2 with Sochi, I don't see why his chances would be much less with SKA next season. If placed on SKA this season, he would rank 1 in points per game, goals per game and shots per game, while playing 4th most among forwards.

No. Why do some people need to add this unnecessary and undeserved titles to Michkov's season?
How is this season better than Kuznetsov in 2011-12? How is it better than Malkin in 2005-06?

This is at least correct, even though this D+1 or D+2 business heavily favours late birth players.

The "if placed" thing is meaningless though, this doesnt work like that in KHL

Sochi-0,85 PPG and 19 goals in 41 game is very good for a player if his age. For the level of hype that he has it is underwhelming though

Asa player, whenever I saw him, he was invisible. However, he has really good stats. Unique player, unique hockey IQ.
But is not very good in other aspects of game aside from goalscoring/offense creating. I think, I can understand, why he did not make SKA roster. I also don't think Rotenberg knows what to do with this type of player, he prefers run and shoot types.

Overall rank, B+ for the season. Not an A, because expectations are "new Ovechkin/Malkin"

PPG heavily depends on where he plays.

Michkov looks unreal.

I’m far from a fan of Grant, but he’s not wrong in this instance. The quality of the league is a long ways from what it was even five years ago and that does play a factor in contextualizing Michkov’s stats. It’s one thing to be talking about his PPG rate being similar to guys like Jagr/Radulov/Morozov/Moyzyakin/Yashin/etc. in a given year - it’s another to be trailing top KHL players like Leivo and Weal that are nowhere near NHL quality at this stage of their careers and would be second rate KHL players in previous years.

Michkov’s an elite, exciting prospect and I still like following him after investing a lot of time in his draft year… but there’s no sense in ignoring important and fairly objective/measurable context just because Grant was the person that said it.
