Isles don't need more players to beat the crap out of the opposition. They need players who can create scoring opportunities and score goals. It's plain for all to see where it hurts and for this team to go anywhere they need an influx of real talent, gamebreakers who can score from nothing. Bottom sixers ain't gonna cut it.
We don't actually have anyone tbh. Martin is done and, dare I say, Clutter emptied the tank in what will likely be his last contract year. I would take one or two defenseman who could prevent us from getting dominated around the front of our net. Perhaps a 3rd line center that effectively shut down the other teams #1 from time to time.

Yes, to me, we desperately need that physicality replaced. Martin and Clutter weren't even the same physically so getting a Duhaime type of player is pretty important

Here's where I want to disagree because our physicality has declined over the past few seasons. You can take another guy like that on the roster, but it isn't a DIRE need.

Do you watch any team other than the Isles? Do you see the way Florida, Dallas and the Rangers play and truly say to yourself “wow the Islanders could beat them in a 7 games series”? This team is not competitive with those teams, and every statistic, basic or advanced, supports that observation. I’m not a “sad sack” because I choose to be realistic with where this team stands.
I was thinking this the other day as I was watching highlights and some periods of different games. There's so many talented teams out there! While I disagree with the idea of if the Islanders can beat any of those teams in a 7 game series (why guess about that?!? anything can happen) it does feel that the teams in the playoffs this year are significantly more skilled than the Islanders.

Vancouver did much the same as the isles last offseason btw

I think the isles should also see if Mikheyev is bought out since Soup is 100% a guy that Roy would love to have

Nashville just traded McDonagh back to the Lightning. They've got tons of cap space now, so maybe Trotz is interested in bringing back his favourites Pelech or Pulock in a deal?

Pelech and Pageau for Fabbro, Novak and a 2nd works for me!

I was thinking about Nyqvist as a cap equalizer and was SHOCKED to see he had 75 points this season

They’re clearing space for Marner.
They’re just getting rid of an unhappy player. They may still pursue someone like Marner, but I don’t think the two are connected.

Why trade assets when they can sign one of Pesce or Skjei in July?

Gross. Marner is NOT what Nashville needs and is the furthest thing from a Trotz player

If this is anything, I could easily see JGP or Pelech fit in nicely for the Predators, and Trotz has been well aware of how to fix them. Islanders should consider a trade. Honestly Nashville needs a solid 3C, since Sissons was a detriment last series

Disagree - practically every GM, including Trotz, would love to add Marner to their lineup, depending on the cost. I'm not a huge fan of Marner, but I'm baffled that anyone would think that Trotz would rather add JGP and/or Pelech over Marner. I suppose it's possible Trotz acquires one of them rather than Marner, but it definitely won't be because they are a better fit for Nashville. It'll be because they'll be basically free to acquire or come with an additional asset, and Marner will cost a lot.

It's just rationalizing.

Mitch Marner doesn't fit the makeup of the roster. Of course you would love a Marner but Nashville getting a guy who went ghost in the playoffs aint it

looking at this, i want to still say that Pageau has value as a centerman, but so does Lee.

There's a lot of good to take away if you want to see trade chips btw

Hello folks. I was wondering if anyone could indulge me in answering what it would cost the Sharks to pry Noah Dobson off your hands, if that is even possible. I know that it's an astronomical long shot but it's more to gauge how valuable he is to you guys right now and moving forward with one year left on his deal.

Here's the deal:

Dobson, Lee and Pageau for the Pittsburgh 1st, New Jersey 2nd, William Eklund, Filip Bystedt and Luca Cagnoni

You'll LOVE Lee's and Pageau's leadership skills and competitiveness . . . will jump start your rebuild!
