There’s a lot wrong with the Canes according to fans and pundits (goaltending, 2C, man on man defensive zone, not enough sandpaper, lack of a game breaker), but save for maybe the lattermost, it doesn’t explain a PP that consistently lets the team down in the biggest moments. In the 6 series losses since 2019, 2 power play goals or less each time. That means momentum shifts and razor thin margins that magnify other aspects of the game.

Bring in a specialist for a change. They’ve never had a true shooting threat on the half wall while having to worry about Pastrnak, Stamkos and Zibanejad in reverse. Aho can finish, but he requires seam passes to be available. How about someone that can just overpower a goalie with a shot from time to time?

Frankly, I’m so desperate, I’d even defend a Laine trade.

Sign Stammer in the off-season. Lightning might not have space now with the McD trade.

Pat verbeek ducks Gm, his first season brought in strome and vatrano( teammates) last season, he brought in gudas and killorn ( they were also teammates years ago) this offseason he trades for Necas and signs Pesce. Both positions he has told the public he wants to sign this off season, as priorities for the organization.

Honestly I could see that. If he leaves Tampa I think he stays in the SE and that leaves Florida, Nashville, Carolina. Stamkos to the Canes seems like a perfect match for both sides

What about a Dman to QB your Powerplay with a rocket of a shot in Hronek? He hasn’t made any friends with his play over the last 3 months but don’t forget he was a beast for the first 50 games of the season. Needs a new deal but he’s a perfect Pesce replacement/upgrade and would probably take less than he would in Vancouver given Canadian tax rates? You could potentially sign him for 7-7.5 instead of the 8 he wants here?

Necas is a guy I like a lot for the Canucks and I think a deal would make sense for both sides

I haven't read through this thread so maybe it's already been thrown out there but what about Necas for Konecny?

Flyers get two years younger to better compliment their time frame and the Canes get a versatile player who makes them a better team than Necas does for at least the here and now.

Would absolutely love to grab Konecny, if only to have him scoring goals for us rather than against us.

I still remember a game a few years ago where the Canes were up like 4-1 or 5-1 going into the 3rd and Konecny scored multiple points shorthanded to make that game uncomfortably close.

This is one of the few ideas that I've seen for Necas that I would be able to get onboard with. Established player that plays that kind of style the team does already without being a major downgrade, at a position and role of need if the team were to move on from Necas.

Well, they have no proven prospects that are better at Center than Rossi.

- Yurov has just switched to C recently in the KHL, and re-signed for another year.

- Bankier had only an OK, injury filled season in the AHL. Some promise, but needs more time in the AHL.

- Heidt had a nice season in the WHL, but most think that he will be a winger in the NHL, and is 2-3 years away from the NHL, at best. There are obvious doubts about him being a NHL'er at all, or he wouldn't have been picked at the ned of the 2nd round.

- Freddy Gaudreau, had an awful season. Rossi is better than him

- Ryan Hartman is the only guy who you could argue is better than Rossi right now, but I would bet on Rossi being better 2-3 years from now as he hits his prime and Hartman leaves his.

Kake Luchinni - nuff said.

Connor Dewar - trade for peanuts, for reasons that escape me, and in any event, Rossi is a better player.
You know, not that I’d want it in a Necas deal but Hartman wouldn’t be the worst Cane. Problem is, he’d go to the 2C spot and I don’t know if I’m feeling that.

I thought Stammer has mostly been playing LW the past few seasons...still wouldn't be a bad guy to sign for 1-2 yrs

I love him in Carolina.. don't want him gone. BUT, I wouldn't be devastated if he joined the B's. My Oilers can't afford him unless you guys want Kane.lol

It should be one of the stronger drafts actually. Similar to 2015 minus McDavid.
Still doesn't change that it makes zero sense for the Canes, who are trying to compete now, to move him for a pick WELL outside the top 10. That pick is the add-on to a good player to maybe get Necas, not the piece that brings Necas.

He’s interesting, but not because he’s a fix for the PP. A number of quality offensive defensemen have played on the 1st unit over the years (Faulk, Hamilton, DeAngelo, Burns). A one-timer from center point is pretty inefficient given the comparative ease of getting in the lane to block it.

Necas for batherson swap?
I don't think the Canes are planning to trade Necas for approximately the same cap hit, they are going to try to sign their own players + Guentzel.

I believe Necas will be trade for a young player who's NHL ready on ECL contract + a 1st.

Talented but perimeter kinda player.

The kind that disappears comes the playoffs.

Would fit Habs needs, but I doubt he's the kind of player Habs management are searching for.
