Sturm really didn't lay any of the blame at Quinn's feet, put it mostly on the players and Quinn being dealt a bad hand. Said coaches always first to get the blame when a team doesn't perform. An obvious truism, but still it's good to hear a player not just shift the blame elsewhere.

Yeah, though he clearly talked about players not understanding the game plan. And while he placed the blame on the leaders of the team to help (which, fair enough), it does seem sort of odd to me. Why aren’t they getting it? Is it a personnel issue? A communication issue? Surely if you’re in the NHL you can stick to a game plan?

Well, he did say Quinn dumbed things down as much as he could, so it wasn't for complexity's sake.

Yes but also every system out there purposely has holes to allow players to express their own creativity. That’s what makes the best players. We have maybe 2-3 players that have that ability in any capacity and the rest should have absolutely no ability to do anything outside the system.

If your system is so complicated the players you have cant understand it, thats on the coach. You have to develop a system that works for the players you have.
