Kinda surprised as NHL teams do not generally allow interview during playoffs.

Kind of not fair to the coaches on the top teams that advance because you are asking them to balance preparing for interviews/doing them and getting their current team ready for the next game.

I mean, it's a massive increase in pay (multiple times) what they are earning to go from OC/DC/QB coach, etc. to a HC job. Can understand why they would want to nail the interview, but at the same time want to win a championship.

End of the day, the difference is the WC Weekend, then Conf Semis, Conf Finals, bye week, then WB. 5 weeks to wait to allow all candidates to be ready.

You understand why teams want to get started, as the coaching staff now is massive. Like 20 coaches deep now. So, guys are not going to wait for a buddy to land a job before committing to something else or their current team if someone were to leave for another job.

They should just freeze interviews and hiring until after the Super Bowl. Knowing the NFL they would find a way to make "coach hiring week" another media event.

Just an avalanche of coaching changes once a HC is hired.

DC/OC who gets a HC job, likely to take 1-3 other support coaches with him and promote them to a higher position. Plus, then raid other clubs who then have to backfill.

March 18 or something is the start of free agency, so you want your coaching staff locked down so players can determine where the best fit is for them scheme wise. That's the big date and reason teams want to get the HC hired asap. Draft, since it's in May, they have some time.

They delayed the schedule release until after the draft so that they can turn that into another event. They could have a week or two after the Super Bowl, called Coaching Shuffle and follow the interviews and rumors and movements and all the press conferences.
