Are there any Utahns on this thread? If so, curious to gauge what the boots on the ground feeling is of these selections. Unless there are other names you would rather have.

I’m also wondering if there will be a write-in option somewhere down the line.

If you use the worker bee route, ‘Utah Hive’ may have a better chance than Sting. With the whole Hivemind angle of the new owners’ tech industry and all. But then again, either of those names again falls to the singular naming convention like Lightning or Avalanche.

the "Hive" would be a sick arena name. I think there is some legs here

"Stingers just buzzing the opposition"

"Welcome to the HIVE prepare to get stung"

Might sound a bit corny but it's not half bad and has huge marketing potential.

More so than Outlaws or Venom which are cool names but are less of a fresh branding and marketing opportunity.

IDK i've got no skin in the game. Congrats on the team some really good pieces and getting close to making noise or dare i say BUZZ lol

It is neither exaggeration nor hyperbole to say that literally every single one of the suggested names are downright horrible.

With the recently rebranded Washington Commanders and Cleveland Guardians, why does it seem impossible for any sports ownership group to tender a non-atrocious moniker for their club? It's like they shrug and collect a bunch of middle school suggestions into a hat...

:help:
Well the Commanders are because of the obvious connection with DC and the Commander and Chief being there. The Guardians are name after a very famous bridge that has "Traffic Guardian" statues on each end. That bridge is the Hope memorial bridge named after Bob Hope.

Just to be pedantic, it's "commander-in-chief" not "commander and chief."

Interestingly, probably the most film to feature the Cleveland Indians, Major League, opens with a shot of one of the "Traffic Guardians."

I like Stingers too but Ryan Smith is going with a Purple colour scheme like the Utah Jazz so maybe not though I like the name

From the beginning I thought Utah Stingers would be a good name. It’s a local reference, it rolls off the tongue and it’s not used in pro sports.
Was used by the Cincinnati Stingers in the 70's

Wow, he had hair at one time. I never knew..
Yup. Matter of fact, it looks really strange to see him with ANY on his head. It looks like a hat, especially when he was on the Cincy Stingers

Does Utah have any military history or military installations?
If so,
Utah Brigades
-or just plain Utah Brigade like the OHL’s Brampton Battalion.

And had Vegas not already been named Golden Knights, Utah Golden Spikes could have been a nice historical nod to the joining of the Transcontinental Rail Road in Utah. Railroad or locomotive imagery could have been used.
