My loyalty is being tested: signed up for the Whiteout video production event for Monday night, but completely forgot to go, mindlessly watching Women's World hockey instead. Heard it was a good time for those who went, and more Morrissey bobbleheads were handed out.

Leafs fan in peace,

As playoff brackets roll around, wondering if a Jets fan can explain to me why they came out the gate this year so good and have been very lowsy in their last 10.

Thank you and hope you guys make the final

Hellebuyck's been great all year, but the whole team seemed to be committed to defense in the first half of the season and they had a long run of giving up 2 goals or less in regulation. They really were limiting chances: Top 10 in all the defensive shot metrics and then Hellebuyck was rock solid.

Then around mid-January, things started to slip. Since then they've slipped out of the Top 10 in defensive metrics and lately they've been a bit of a tire fire on D.

Special teams have been pretty bad all season and it's bit them more recently as well. Not being able to convert powerplays, getting torched on the PK.

Anyway, things were rosy, then they weren't. The December 31 Jets are contenders. The April 10 Jets are going to get smoked unless Hellebuyck can steal 4 games vs. (most likely) Colorado.

Juat kidding... thanks for stopping by

Jets were playing a smothering 5 man high pressure system early in the season and they got away from it.aybe due to fatigue or injuries or just old bad habits creeping in

They went through a stretch where the team D was still good but they couldn't buy a goal. I think they started pressing for offense, getting away from the 5 man D play. Since then, they just haven't been able to get back to what had worked in the 1st half season. It is pretty hard to reset a team mindset mid-season. They all need to be in sync for that to work.

Statistics Canada 🇨🇦 just released the population estimates as of July 1, 2023 for Census Metropolitan areas.

Metro Winnipeg has 910, 200 people, an increase of 34,000 from the prior year. This shatters every population record in Winnipeg history.

Considering growth rates have not subsided, it's possible that Winnipegs current metro population is around 940,000+.

We could hit 1,000,000 people before the end of the decade.

I can feel it during rush hour

Lots of multi-family housing going up everywhere. It's great to see so many new Canadians coming to make a better life for them and their families, but the congestion is only gonna get worse

There will he a strain put on everything from school capacity to Healthcare. I don't think we've done a very good job of anticipating and planning for this

It was quite the hailstorm here late this afternoon.
It annihilated the hell out of my spousal units' flower pots (and the incumbent flowers).. she uttered a few choice phrases. Impressive and inventive curses with application to jamming various bits of mammalian architecture in sundry difficult locales.

She also questioned why my (90% grown) child and I didn't hurl our bodies over said pots, to deflect the hail of ice cubes, rocketing out of the sky at unmentionable velocities.

Our old roads can't handle the extra traffic that's for sure, construction everywhere . Time to do what they do in the US and work at night also, there are worse drivers during the day than overnight anyway so its not a safety issue. Here is a good one for you, so last Monday we are caught in a huge traffic jam on Marion from a train going by recently and a zipper merge because of construction. My cousin and i are going golfing at St.B and he's driving his big white van, we are slowly creeping down the road and all of a sudden both of our heads snap back and we both spill our coffee, a lady has just hammered her vehicle into the back of his van.:laugh::laugh: Its so unbelievable we are laughing because how in the world could you do that in that situation? My cousin says f*** that we aren't stopping we will miss our tee time:laugh: i said we can't anyway there is no where to pull over. The lady finally gets up beside us and i ask how did you just do that? What you didn't see us there for f***sakes . Unfortunately she barely spoke English but said sorry and no damage so we got her license plate number just in case and looked at the back of his van when we got to the course and he has 2 cracks in his bumper.

Redwood was blocked off all summer last year from Main to Salter for a complete rebuild. Now the same stretch is blocked off again! lol.

Man, this is some absolutely dismal weather we're getting! I need a solid 2 or 3 weeks of dry sunny warm now please and thankyou!
