What is the excuse for Hellebuyck allowing 6 goals? The guy is gonna win the Vezina. I mean if we had the 4giev from the early season who actually allowed 4 goals, we win this game. The problem is 4giev has been downgraded to 6giev and it’s getting worse. Just make couple of saves and we win the game

There’s no excuse.

He went up against the best offense in the National Hockey League who were ready to dominate Game 1.

No excuses for Helly allowing 6.

No excuses for the entire Jets team allowing almost 50 shots on home ice.

The better team dominated this game.

All the Avs have to do is be absolutely perfect 100% of the time always all the time forever and ever, guys. This ain't on Georgie.

Don't even consider that the opposing team is also trying to win and will force opportunities. No. Just be absolutely flawless. Then, and only then, can we really blame poor ol Georgie.

Because it's an anomaly game for him whereas Georgie gives up 4+ goals in almost half the games he plays.
Yeah my point is, no one is asking Georgiev to be perfect, just make a save or two. I think that’s an easier task than asking the team to play picture perfect defensive hockey without any mistakes

The Avs winning with Annunen will be less to do with Annunen and more to do with external factors…

- Not enough of a book on him yet
- The boys feeling rejuvenated by not having George in net
- Reinforcements in later rounds
- Defense being tighter than it’s been
I don’t see how it gets through 4 rounds personally, but I do think it should be an option if it doesn’t work, we are simple back where we are today.

Even the brainless Twitter bots have turned on 7giev.

Josh Manson is the defenceman who needs to clean his game up. He was playing so well late in the season, then fell apart at the end.

That’s a guy who seems to give up the glorious scoring chances.

I thought Walker played his best game in a while tonight. I also liked him with Makar. I think separating Toews/Makar is a good thing every know and then.

When I think about it, can’t really blame CMac for not getting a goalie unless he was trading Georgiev for a good starter. Getting Jake Allen or another back up type wouldn’t be enough for a deep run. Show me a team that has gone far and won the cup with an older back up goalie which what Allen is.

Teams have won with young unknown goalies who got hot at the right time and took the team all the way like Binnington. Hill won with a Vegas team that was playing really good defensively and made him look better than he actually is.

Just go with Annunen, maybe it will turn into another Binnington like situation otherwise CMac will need to trade for a legit starting goalie in the offseason.

All situations xGF in the six games so far (not counting ENGs):

Toronto: 4.5 -- actual goals scored: 1
Boston: 3.7 -- actual goals scored: 4

Carolina: 3.11 -- actual goals scored: 2
NYI: 2.99 -- actual goals scored: 1

Florida: 4.15 -- actual goals scored: 2
Tampa Bay: 2.61 -- actual goals scored: 2

NYR: 2.91 -- actual goals scored: 3
Washington: 2.3 -- actual goals scored: 1

Vancouver: 2.27 -- actual goals scored: 3
Nashville: 1.65 -- actual goals scored: 2

Colorado: 3.99 -- actual goals scored: 6
Winnipeg: 1.96 -- actual goals scored: 7

Something seem a bit off? It's not like Lindgren, Samsonov, Varlamov, and Andersen are these insane goaltenders. Those are guys Georgiev SHOULD be contemporarires with. But nuh uh.

We should actually applaud him for being ok with going into the playoffs with worst goaltender in the keague leading the way. Shows how much faith he had in the team. Some 4D chess being played here.

legit question…

If any of us here were in net instead of Georgiev, would we do better and give the Avs chance to win? I’m sure some of you here have played goalie. I have never played goalie but I played defense and forward in the beer league. I think I would at least not allow 7, I’d allow 6, we’d go to OT then I’d get so nervous that I would pull myself out of the game, Bednar would put Georgiev in net we’d still lose.

Sorry, I’ve had 1 or 2 or 7 drinks so far and I can’t get over that goalie performance. I’ve tried to defend Georgiev as much as possible this year, but can’t do it anymore

Florida: 4.15 -- actual goals scored: 2 -52%
Tampa Bay: 2.61 -- actual goals scored: 2 -23%

NYR: 2.91 -- actual goals scored: 3 +3%
Washington: 2.3 -- actual goals scored: 1 -56%

Vancouver: 2.27 -- actual goals scored: 3 +32%
Nashville: 1.65 -- actual goals scored: 2 +21%

Been a long time since I played in goal, but I am actually really confident I could score on George

He really was in no position to trade for a better starting goalie which not only would cost assets, but he had to get rid of Georgiev somehow, and fit the new starting goalie under the cap. Again someone like Allen or another back up wouldn’t be the answer. We gonna need a legit good starting goalie next year

The Avs will unload Georgiev, whether it's a 7th round pick in return or buying him out.

However, don't bank on the Avs acquiring a top flight goalie. IMO they will sign a stopgap measure like Nedeljkovic or Kahkonen to tandem with Annunen.

Why wouldn’t he be in a position to trade for a better goalie? Because he chose not to?

This is not the first time CMac has ignored a huge hole in the roster and destroyed any chance the team has to make a run at the cup. Thats actually his MO now.

Because to get a good starting goalie, he would need to get rid of Georgiev which means giving up more assets and fit the new goalie under the cap. Also what legit starting goalie was available at the trade deadline? Kings tried to trade for Ullmark which failed. Gibson? I don’t know who CMac could get but it’s more of an off season move if we gonna make a change in net

I think we have George's nickname wrong it's not 4geiev it should be coddleiev because I've I've never seen a more coddled professional athlete.

The guy should have been waived months ago, yet Bednar continues to coddle him and his fragile mental state so he can continue to start and actively cost us games.

If he plays another minute in the playoffs, Bednar should be fired. It's pure incompetence to allow him back in the net.

If Annunen is unavailable for next game i'd rather call-up and start Provy than George.
At this point they should just waive George and roll with Annunen and Provy. Both are far superior goalies at this point in time.
