I believe I played it several years ago and was having a great time with the career mode until suddenly, when my team was about to win the world series, my fielders made a comical number of errors in sequence on routine plays and the CPU players all started hitting like Babe Ruth. Does the AI still cheat horribly?
I don't know.

I set difficulty to easy, made a 7 footer 99 overall, and went for 150 HR.

I can't recall what difficulty I was on but I think I was on one of the easier modes and I was having a good time until the AI switch flipped and it was so obvious I never played it again. lol

It is like the "ice tilt" in EA NHL.. garbage.

I always turned off hero mode on those games when they had the hero line. I got sick of dominating games only to have the AI come charging back with no defense. That's been quite a while though.

I've done many mock drafts but never hockey playoffs on the main board before. All of my players are in the top 200 project except my checking line. My opponent ripped my team in his first post. In an 8 team draft his wingers are (the numbers are where they went in the last ATD):

74. Martin St. Louis
135. Henrik Zetterberg
168. Marian Hossa
180. John LeClair
214. Rick Middleton
293. Steve Shutt
328. Esa Tikkanen
Mikko Rantanen - Undrafted

@rmartin65 and everyone else. Please ignore the RD's real handedness. After a team has 4 Cs, I'm gonna put Cs at W on their correct shooting side except Yzerman is on the wrong side. This is just for fun. Which team would win?

TEAM A

Mark Messier - Mario Lemieux - Jaromir Jagr
Alex Ovechkin - Sidney Crosby - Guy Lafleur
Joe Sakic - Bobby Clarke - Sergei Makarov
Steve Yzerman - Bryan Trottier - Mike Bossy

Ray Bourque - Viacheslav Fetisov
Nicklas Lidstrom - Larry Robinson
Denis Potvin - Chris Chelios

Patrick Roy
Dominik Hasek

TEAM B

Bobby Hull - Jean Beliveau - Gordie Howe
Phil Esposito - Howie Morenz - Maurice Richard
Ted Lindsay - Frank Nighbor - Bill Cook
Frank Boucher - Stan Mikita - Newsy Lalonde

Doug Harvey - Eddie Shore
Red Kelly - King Clancy
Cyclone Taylor - Pierre Pilote

Limiting it to (vaguely) rock, and one album per artist:

1. Black Sabbath - "Paranoid" (1970)
2. Camel - "Mirage" (1974)
3. King Crimson - "Red" (1974)
4. Led Zeppelin - "Led Zeppelin I" (1969)
5. Pink Floyd - "Animals" (1977)
6. The Stooges - "Fun House" (1970)
7. Thin Lizzy - "Live and Dangerous" (1978) (do live albums count? is this even really a live album?)
8. The Who - "Quadrophenia" (1973)
9. Wishbone Ash - "Argus" (1972)
10. Yes - "Fragile" (1971)

That's a really tough question. You have everything that the Beatles released post 1965, everything the rolling Stones released post aftermath and at least through goat's head soup, minus their satanic Majesty's request of course, Dylan's three electric albums, who's next, the four quintessential Pink Floyd albums plus meddle, songs in the key of life, black sabbath, paranoid, just about everything by Zeppelin is in the running, all things must pass, band on the run, Lennon's first two, ram.... It feels like I already have about 30 albums in my top 10 from that era and I doubt I've even remembered each one.

Get your wings, toys in the attic, rocks...

At least the first couple from The Ramones

Rumors and Hotel California

Court and spark, blue, harvest, everybody knows this is nowhere

Putting my beloved Motown, Beatles, The Rolling Stones and classical music albums aside,... (cuz they'd crowd the room)

These also live in my life:

A Love Supreme, John Coltrane (1965)
Electric Ladyland, Jimmy Hendrix (1968)
Bitches' Brew, Miles Davis (1970)
Songs of Love and Hate, Leonard Cohen (1971)
Blue, Joni Mitchell (1971)
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John (1973)
Hotel California, The Eagles (1976)
The Wall, Pink Floyd (1979)
Diana, Diana Ross (1980)
Back in Black, ACDC (1980)

Great music never gets old.
Thanks to this exercise, i'm gonna put these albums on during my all-day hike this weekend. Cheers.

Been playing around with FHM 10 recently. Started a “random debut” historical mode in 1909, and simulated many years to build up a league history before stopping to check career paths, award winners, all-time leaderboards etc..I then enter spectator mode, which is basically I play unemployed and just watch the league unfold as a “fan” rather than controlling a team. Keep in mind that since it’s random debut, the game engine takes over and player development is handled by the game engine. In regular historical mode you have the option to play with re-calc, which means player ratings will be recalculated each off-season to give a more accurate representation of the abilities for each player. When using the player dev engine rather than re-calc, most players will still develop pretty similarly to real life, but you’ll see the odd scrub develop into a decent player in the game, or a player who was a decent average NHLer for a decade in real life may be a career minor leaguer in your game file. Also, the iron curtain rule doesn’t apply when enabling random debut.

The 1987 Stanley Cup finals just ended with the 49-24-7 New Jersey Devils defeating the 45-28-7 Winnipeg Jets in 6 games.

The Devils are managed by Ron Caron, who has been with the franchise since 1978-1979 (Colorado Rockies). He had previously coached the Indianapolis Racers and Chicago Cougars of the WHA. They’re coached by Tom Johnson who has also been with the franchise since 1978. He had previously coached the Vancouver Canucks from 1971-1972 to 1977-1978.

Their Cup winning line-up, with ages:

Luc Robitaille (29) - Sid Abel (30) - Rick Middleton (31)
Jamie Benn (21) - Bobby Clarke (26) - Terry O’Reilly (25)
Carl Liscombe (27) - Ric Seiling (29) - O Bjorkstrand (26)
Sergei Shepelev (31) - Vladimir Kovin (32) - Nik Ehlers (30)

Morgan Rielly (25) - Jerry Korab (24)
Ian Turnbull (24) - Bedrich Scerban (23)
Dmitry Orlov (32) - Yves Racine (29)

Mike Palmateer (21)
Jocelyn Thibault (30)

John Ross Roach also played some games in goal for the Devils during the season, before Thibault was acquired in a trade. Roach is 35 and was sent to the minors.

Hart Trophy: Aleksander Barkov
Art Ross: Sid Abel
Conn Smythe: Morgan Rielly
Ted Lindsay: Aleksander Barkov

@Habsfan18 ^ I've thought doing that but unless there's an option where the players are their real ages in relation to each other, it's not for me.

You can play historical mode any way you want. I just use random debut because I think it’s fun, but it’s completely optional. You can start in any season you’d like, from 1909 to present day. And you can choose to play with authentic rosters and ages if you wish.

@seventieslord Those are all great. When I was a kid a college student went abroad, and I got to keep her albums for a year. The first album (2 records) I fell in love with was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and the first hard rock album I heard was Canada's very own BTO "Taking Care of Business". The first album I ever bought was Jim Croce. When I was 14 my dad and an out of state guest picked me up from school, I begged them to take me to K-Mart on the way home, and I bought my all-time favorite non-Blues album Songs in the Key of Life (2 records). I know it's only rock n roll, but I like it.

For the record, my list was 100% subjective (a list of my favourite albums - I prefer heavy metal and progressive rock). A more objective list (of the "greatest" or most influential albums from that timeframe) might be something like:
  • AC/DC - Back in Black
  • Black Sabbath - Paranoid
  • Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
  • Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
  • CCR - Cosmo's Factory
  • Cream - Disraeli Gears
  • David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
  • Deep Purple - Machine Head
  • Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
  • Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
  • Jethro Tull - Aqualung
  • Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
  • Judas Priest - British Steel
  • King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
  • Led Zeppelin - IV
  • Motorhead - Ace of Spades
  • Neil Young - Harvest
  • Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
  • Pink Floyd - The Wall
  • Queen - A Night at the Opera
  • The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
  • The Beatles - Abbey Road
  • The Beatles - Revolver
  • The Beatles - Rubber Soul
  • The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper
  • The Clash - London Calling
  • The Doors - LA Woman
  • The Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society
  • The Ramones - The Ramones
  • The Rolling Stones - Beggar's Banquet
  • The Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
  • The Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks
  • The Who - Quadrophenia
  • The Who - Who's Next
  • Van Halen - Van Halen
These albums (if listened to chronologically) give you a good overview of the evolution of mainstream rock music.
