Great pick for PA. One thing we’re seeing more and more at the CHL level, is teams concentrating on having dmen who can push pace.

Obviously with all the hoopla over DuPont 1st Overall, theres been less talk of some other, really talented kids being drafted today in the WHL.. Or yesterday for that matter in the U.S. Draft.

2nd Overall, Cripps ends up in Prince Albert. In 26 games last season he had 25 goals and 45 assists. Heck of a young dman I’ve had the pleasure of watching one weekend, by chance this year. Where you say, that kid can flat out play, and make sure you catch his next game. He’s a creator, who forces pace from the backend. He’ll have to tighten some things up and maybe uses the same move too much, which teams at this level will take away, but he’s super talented.

Props to Curtis Hunt too, for adding alot of nice talent the last couple of days. Most fans don’t understand the challenges teams like Brandon and Prince Albert still have, compared to other WHL teams, when it comes to getting top players to sign, even though they’re great places to play.

Hunt landed 2 of the best Western U.S. kids yesterday, who both seem willing to come up, especially the Burcar kid from the Jr Ducks, and we’ll wait and see on Gutierrez, a Texas kid playing at Shattuck. Usually they won’t waste the pick unless they have a real good idea a player will sign. Then following Cripps 2nd Overall this morning, they traded up to 4th Overall, and selected another big time forward prospect in Ben Harvey from NAX. A smaller forward but not only does he use his quickness, he will get his nose dirty.

Raiders aren’t messing around the last couple of days. Adding some really talented, high paced players, who will be coming to PA. They’ll have the 31st pick coming up too.

If the Raiders can get those US kids to buy into their future the team will be loaded and a contender for sure. Gutierrez,Cripps, and Rudolph would be a nasty defence with plenty of unreal forwards also. Would be good for their development too and lots of eyes as they go on deep runs yearly.
