GMBM's lone offseason move last year was bringing in Patches, who wasn't even ready to play.

I, for one, am shocked it didn't work out.

If Carbery can't move this team in the direction of playing to win, and keep playing to lose, then I want him gone. All season we were defending far too much and not generating enough shots in games and horrible in finishing to score goals.
We won more games and made the playoffs this season. Carbury’s job is to win games with what he’s given. He created a decent burger out of meat scraps.
Isn’t he under contract for next year too
I thought Pacioretti’s contract was 1 year.m, $4,000,000. Am I incorrect?

At his age, the coach needs to just be straight up with him that he's not going to be on the first line and a PP specialist. That also means no more office for him. This is not a knock on Ovy, but reality sits in at that age. Look at past stars that father time caught up with. They accepted new roles.
Yeah he may he may need to become a Corey Perry type player. I would love if he evolves his game to shield the puck better and not lose it so easily, but that’s wishful thinking. I don’t think he has the work ethic to work on these things (or his conditioning), maybe because he was such a natural that he never needed to.

This offseason will have a lot of work cut out for them. Regarding goaltending, Lindgren showed he wants to be our #1 next season. BMac/F***ing Scott Murray need to figure out if they want to waste $5+ million in trying to get Darcy Kuemper right again or find a way to move him and his contract. Hunter Shepard is ready to come in to backup Lindgren. He has been a better goalie playing in Hershey than Vanecek/Sammy/Copley did in the past. Caps for years have gotten good backup goaltending from goalies no one saw coming. I'm confident Shep can do it too.

You are correct. Pacioretty is now a UFA.

Along with Aube- Kubel and Lujo (who I hope is NOT re-signed)

And toothpick (Phillips) - also not required, see ya buddy door's that way!

Patches was a 1 year $2 million base salary with up to $2 million in bonuses that could have been reached. He obviously didn't reach 'em all so, there will be SOME of his bonus money going against the Caps salary cap.

Stop trying to make hunter shepard happen. I promise you he isn’t a player you make room for
I'm not making it happen, but going off the teams history with young goalies. If Sammy/Copley/Vanecek could be brought up to backup and win win 15 - 20 games as rookie goalies then I strongly feel Hunter Shepard can as well. Shepard finished the season better than our AHL rookie Clay Stevenson, who tapered off a bit(it was to be expected). Hunter Shepard was the best goalie in the AHL this season!

Max hit all his bonuses as they were related to games played ... i don't know how overage works, but there will be a penalty next year pretty sure

Per PuckPedia, the Capitals were penalized the third-most of any team ($2,252,500) due almost entirely to bonus money earned by Max Pacioretty in his one-year, $4 million deal that he signed over the offseason. Pacioretty’s cap hit for this season was $2 million, while his three performance bonuses ($1 million for 10 games played, $500k bonus for 15 games played, and $500k bonus for 20 games played) totaled the other $2 million. That bonus money will be subtracted from the Capitals’ total next season

I don't like to come across arrogant, but I have been very accurate about the Caps goaltending and effects of the goalie coach, going back 6 years now.

Accurate? You keeping a running list you can share? I see you constantly criticizing the goalie coach…he gets no credit for his work with Charlie I’m guessing. It’s very hard to take your stance on the goalie coaching serious even when you seem knowledgeable about the position.

Probably the best game they played in the series, but their special teams were just better all series and that was the big difference IMO. That and losing two key defensemen.

Old guys never really showed up 8/77, and we don’t have enough skill overall. Get the kids to Hershey, and continue rebuilding.
