For sure, but that can’t be the only major change. No coach out there can go on a playoff run by themselves. Berube won a cup, but since then his rosters have been meh and he made the 2nd round just once. NMCs are a problem, but they have to figure it out.

Agreed, just replacing the coach isn't going to be enough, but it's the initial natural step in this circumstance. Treliving gets to pick his own guy (even though it sounds like, as when he himself was hired, the new guy has basically already been picked), and then we see what he does with the roster.

This brings me to another point. It sounded like there was a very minimal GM search when Dubas was let go, and the Leafs just took the biggest "name" that was out there. Now it sounds like they are going to do the same with the coach. Seems a bit lazy. Why not wait to see if other guys become available in the next few weeks/months. Does it really matter if you miss out on Berube?
