Nobody forced Getz to get the PK minutes he got. Obviously it wasn't going to be reduced to zero.

Who else was going to play them? Rakell isn't good enough at faceoffs or defense, Thompson and Kesler can't play the whole time, Maroon/Jackman are not happening, Beleskey and DSP were so-so. Perry had a lot of PK time the year before but was injured. Silfverberg and Cogliano were already getting time.

They didn't replace Winnik, who was actually the top PK time guy the year before.

getzlaf is too important to the offense to spend that much time on PK, Murray has to address this, he carries as heavy a workload as any player in the league

With Getzlaf that's five guys who can excel on the PK. I don't see anything wrong with that, and I don't mind Getz's workload at all.

Merely going that deep with the intensity of the playoffs raises the likelihood of injury.

Address it how? You all want four lines that can chip in offensively, and now a third center that can play on the PK well to go along with that?

Teams aren't going to have that sort of amazing depth.

in the end the team depends on getzlaf to generate offense more than any other player. he lead the league in blocked shots for forwards. all those blocked shots lead to wear and tear. he is now over 30 years old on a big contract it is time to start protecting him if this team wants to win a cup any time soon
